RACE 1: MCGUIRES RESTAURANT QTIS 2-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP – 1320M.

At the start CAWDOR BULLET was hampered between FLINDERS PARADE, which jumped out and MUSTANG’S MATE, which jumped in.

MISS PERIWINKLE was very slowly away.

YARROW hung out rounding the 800m turn.

Near the 550m KING JOKER was eased whilst racing greenly.

FIERY IVE raced very wide in the early and middle stages.

KING JOKER raced very wide throughout.

Time off 3.35 PM.

RACE 2: SOUTHERN CROSS BRICKLAYING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1630M.

A Gain (THE PROMS) replaced G Geran who had commitments at the Gatton meeting.

W Cook (SOVEREIGN SMILE) replaced L Roberts who failed to arrive on course by the required time. L Roberts was fined the sum of $50 for failing to fulfil his engagement.

STORM HUNTER was slowly away.

Near the 1500m FENCER shifted in and made contact with MY VAIN.

Leaving the 800m THE PROMS and FENCER made contact on two occasions.

COOSANTE hung out from the 500m.

Near the 400m LADY TARYN and ADVANTAGE PLUS were crowded for room by EMMY WINNER, which rolled in.

MILWAUKEE FLYER, which hung out from leaving the 500m, forced EMMY WINNER wide rounding the home.

Time off 4.15 PM.

RACE 3: WELLCAMP FURNITURE REMOVALS CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1630M.

HOBEAU and TIARA ZIP were slowly away.

HOT FOOTING (K Yoshida) lost ground when it jumped away awkwardly. K Yoshida was momentarily unbalanced in the incident.

Approaching the 1500m CERTAIN HARMONY (T Ono) shifted in when insufficiently clear of THE FITTER causing that horse to be taken in and making heavy contact with BUCK’S CHARM. T Ono was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. When considering the penalty stewards took into account that BUCK’S CHARM shifted out marginally.

THE FITTER raced wide in the middle stages.

KULAK hung out from the 1300m, racing very wide from leaving the 500m until the early stages of the home straight. Trainer J Thomas was advised that KULAK is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next start.

Time off 4.56 PM.

RACE 4: TOOWOOMBA BULK MEATS CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1320M.
Trainer G Osborne was advised that BLAZING DANCER is unable to start again until the transfer of ownership is enacted.

J Warrington (KANES CROSSING) replaced A Gain who was unable to make the required weight. A Gain was fined the sum of $100 for failing to make the required weight.

PINK PONTIAC and TALBINGO LAD were slowly away.

HEART OF LIGHT was eased from the heels of BUDEENA BOY approaching the 550m

HEART OF LIGHT was held up for clear running from leaving the 500m until the approaching the 100m.

SLASHING LOOKS raced wide throughout.

RACE 5: QRSE RUBBER BELT MART CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1119M.

G O’Sullivan (LOVE IN THE MIST) replaced D Stanley who is under suspension.

CRAFTY KING, which was kicked whilst parading behind the barriers, was subsequently cleared by the veterinary surgeon to take its place in the field.

KARWENDEETAM, which broke through the barriers, was restrained after going a short distance. KARWENDEETAM was subsequently cleared by the veterinary surgeon to take its place in the field.

CRAFTY KING lost ground when it jumped away awkwardly.

KIRKCALDY LASS jumped away awkwardly

HELEN’S BROTHER was slowly away.

Shortly after the start TINGOLION and TARANA AVENUE were crowded for room between PUBLIC EYE and KARWENDEETAM, which shifted out.

Leaving the 850m PUBLIC EYE got its head up whilst being eased to take a position closer the inside rail.

Near the 450m HELEN’S BROTHER was steadied when crowded for room by PUBLIC EYE, which shifted in to obtain clear running.

KARWENDEETAM hung out throughout.

SILOUIE and TAIPAN RULER raced wide throughout.

Time off 6.16 PM.

RACE 6: KEN TEMPLE BUILDING CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1018M.

Trainer l Bryant was cautioned for accepting with PRINCE LONSDALE in two races, which is a breach of LR 64 (3).

CHOSEN PRINCESS, which reared and got its off fore leg caught over the partition of the barriers was subsequently cleared by the veterinary surgeon to take its place in the field.

BARAND’S BOY, which was slowly away, attempted to buck shortly after. Trainer D Arnold was advised that BARANDS BOY is required to pass a barrier jumpout prior to its next start.

CHOSEN PRINCESS jumped away awkwardly.

SANDY STAR lost ground when it jumped away awkwardly.

BELCOFF knuckled on jumping away.

Shortly after the start SILENT THOUGHT was eased from the heels of QUICK BALL, which shifted in. T Ono was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear.

Leaving the 800m SANDY STAR was eased when crowded for room by BELCOFF, which was taken in by QUICK BALL (T Ono).

Approaching the 600m SANDY STAR was eased when tightened for room by BELCOFF, which was taken in by QUICK BALL. T Ono was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground leaving the 800m and approaching the 600m when insufficiently clear.

Approaching the 200m STAR OF THE GALAXY (R Goltz) shifted in taking CHOSEN PRINCESS in, which then made contact with BELCOFF. SANDY STAR, which was racing back to the inside of BELCOFF, was steadied in the incident. R Goltz was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear.

A veterinary examination of SILENT THOUGHT, which finished tailed off failed to reveal any abnormality.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of SILENT THOUGHT. After taking evidence from trainer N Petersen and jockey P Moodie, stewards adjourned the inquiry until Friday 2nd July 2004.

Time off 6.59 PM.

RACE 7: STOCK EXCHANGE HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE - 1320M.

Near the 400m VIEWBANK LANE, HOO HOOKS and I LIKE THE MUSIC were forced wider on the track by VODNAR, which shifted out to obtain clear running.

RHYTHMS BOY was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

W Cook (MARIGOLD) and J Sharp (RYTHMS BOY) riders of the 3rd and 4th placegetter were both fined the sum of $50 for dismounting prior to permission being given.

A veterinary examination of VIEWBANK LANE, which weakened over the concluding stages revealed the gelding, was suffering from respiratory distress, which may have been a result of getting his tongue over the bit.

Time off 7.37 PM.

SPECIAL REPORT
TOOWOOMBA STEWARDS REPORT
25 JUNE 2004

Stewards held an inquiry into the positive swab sample taken from OUR GOLD WARRIOR after winning Race 6 the Suncorp Maiden Plate of 1113mts at Toowoomba Turf Club on the 3 April 2004. The sample was positive to the Prohibited Substance Hydroxycamphor.

After taking evidence from Trainer M Brosnan, Veterinary Surgeon L McNaught, Racing Science Centre Veterinary Surgeon Bruce Young and the Stewards, Ms Brosnan was charged under the terms of ARR 178 with brining the horse to a racecourse for the purpose of engaging in a race and then following the race having had detected in its swab sample the Prohibited Substance Hydroxycamphor.

Trainer Ms M Brosnan was found guilty of the charge and was fined $3000 and was given 3 months in monthly instalments of $1000 to pay the fine with the first payment due on the 25 July 2004 failure to pay the instalments will result in nominations being declined.

Under the terms of ARR 177 the Stewards also disqualified the gelding OUR GOLD WARRIOR from winning Race 6 the Suncorp Maiden Plate of 1113mts at the Toowoomba Turf Club on the 3 April 2004.
