RACE 1: VAL & IAN LOW MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 900 MTS
PRINCE ACTION jumped out and EPPONNEE BAE jumped in coming into heavy contact.
Shortly after the start SPIN BOY raced greenly shifting in coming into contact with HASTY ROYAL.
SPIN BOY made the home turn wide.
EPPONNEE BAE raced wide throughout and over the concluding stages raced greenly shifting ground under pressure.

RACE 2: BARBARA TURLEY MEMORIAL TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000MTS
Apprentice S Galvin (RUNATUN) replaced P Wolfgram as no other senior rider available. Jockey P Wolfgram was stood down for the remainder of the day after being examined by the club Doctor.
REQUEST THIS and KAMILEROI were both slowly away.
SUPERINTENDENT jumped on terms, slow into stride.
STAR TESSA raced greenly in the early stages of the race.
REQUEST THIS raced greenly in the early stages of the race.
GREY SKYE, which was having its first race start, raced greenly and wide throughout.
ZDARSKY inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
S Apthorpe (KAMILEROI) accidentally dropped his whip near the 250m.

RACE 3: PRIME PERSONEL CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1100MTS
R Goltz (COLIN’S PARTY) replaced P Wolfgram.
POWER EXPRESS jumped awkwardly and in the air as the gates opened and lost ground.
Near the 1000m MAKENI steadied from the heels of TRANQUIL BLUE which shifted in.
FRONT DOOR raced ungenerously with its head in the air in the early stages of the race.
Jockey J McKinnon (FRONT DOOR) reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 750m causing POWER EXPRESS to steady from its heels.
Jockey A Parramore (LEGCAPA) advised to exercise more care for allowing his mount to shift in near the 450m causing inconvenience to TRANQUIL BLUE.
COLIN’S PARTY held up for clear running behind THE PILOT for some distance in the straight.
Following a hard run a post race veterinary examination THE PILOT failed to reveal any abnormality.
On returning to scale FRONT DOOR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who reported the stallion was lame in the near fore leg. Connections advised Veterinary Certificate is required to the horse next racing.

RACE 4: RODNEY UPTON CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 MTS
J Sharp (IN ORDER) replaced C Spry who failed to arrive by the appointed time when held up at another venue.
At the start CASHMERE MIST jumped in making contact with AUK LANDING which was slow into stride. AUK LANDING then over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.
Jockey B Appo (CASHMERE MIST) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the terms of Rule ARR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1100m when insufficiently clear of ARMED FOR VICTORY causing that runner to steady and shift in causing OLLIE CHEVAL to check. Jockey Appo suspended from riding in races from midnight May 20, 2006 up to and including June 3, 2006 a period of 8 meetings.
SPECIAL CELESTE, SHADES OF STEEL and RULE MY LIFE all raced wide throughout.
Rounding the home turn ARMED FOR VICTORY laid in crowding IN ORDER which struck the fence causing jockey J Sharp to strike his foot on an upright. IN ORDER then came back out forcing ARMED FOR VICTORY back out which caused RULE MY LIFE to steady from the heels of ARMED FOR VICTORY.
Rounding the home turn CHICKCHAT held up for clear running behind IN ORDER.
RULE MY LIFE underwent a Veterinary examination on return to scale which found the gelding had been galloped on to the near hind leg.

RACE 5: TRIMMINGHAM TRANSPORT CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1850MTS
G Lynch (NOTABLE VICTORY) replaced P Wolfgram.
NOTABLE VICTORY lost its off-fore plate on jumping.
KIND ACT was slowly away.
OUT REFLECTION jumped in coming into contact with WINEGROVE.
DAREHTY checked from the heels of OSTRAS near the 1300m when the pace steadied.
ALANOR LASS raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
NOTABLE VICTORY unable to secure a clear passage from the 500m then at the 400m shifted out taking I’M SO BLESSED wider on the track.
WINEGROVE held up for clear running behind ALANOR LASS in the early part of the straight then behind GREAT MARC in the latter stages of the straight resulting in jockey Goltz (WINEGROVE) being unable to fully test his mount.

RACE 6: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300MTS
Trainer S Hamada (REASONING) was fined $100 for late declaration of rider.
ZACS EQUAL jumped out making contact with REASONING which in turn came into contact with CALL ME MAL which was slow into stride.
HANS CHRISTIAN jumped out making contact with DANGEROUS CENT.
MOLLY’S IMAGE jumped awkwardly.
STAR NOBLE rolled in near the 1200m crowding HANS CHRISTIAN.
REASONING held up for clear running behind SIR MOCHA on entering the straight then inclined to lay out causing HANS CHRISTIAN to steady over the concluding stages of the race.
Stewards question trainer G Shelley (KEN PAL) on the geldings improved performance. Trainer Shelley could offer no reason other than he got back further than he normally does and that tactic may have been the difference in the way he finished the race off. Also after KEN PAL’S fourth in Toowoomba on April 22 Mr Shelley felt the horse would run a good race at Beaudesert on April 25 but it clipped heels and fell. Mr Shelley advised there was no stable support for the gelding. Stewards noted explanation.

RACE 7: TOOWOOMBA HOSPICE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000MTS
HOPIN’ AND PAYIN’ was slowly away.
MILGARA was slowly away.
SNOWCONE jumped in making contact with ALPENFEST which had to be eased from the heels of DESERT JESTER.
SNOWCONE, DESERT JESTER and BE GOOD JOHNNY all forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
Jockey S Richardson (SILVER LACE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the terms of rule ARR 137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out nearing the 350m when insufficiently clear of ALPENFEST resulting in that runner having to be checked. Jockey Richardson suspended from riding in races from midnight May 24, 2006 up to and including June 4, 2006 a period of 7 meetings.
On returning to scale RIVIERA SUR MER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who could find no abnormality.
