On returning to scale jockey J Morris (ONLY HERESAE) the rider of the 3rd placegetter lodged an objection against TORDACITY (J McKinnon) being declared the winner for alleged interference over the last 100m. After taking evidence from the riders, connections and viewing of the patrol film, stewards dismissed the objection as TORDACITY had shifted out making contact with ONLY HERESAE at which time ONLY HERESAE then shifted in making contact with TORDACITY resulting in both runners contributing to the incident.
At a subsequent inquiry both riders were advised to exercise more care when their mounts were shifting ground.

TORDACITY was slow away.

ONLY HERESAE raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 1200m DANZIG RED (M Tarrant) was eased when crowded for room between MU MU DENMARK and HANS CHRISTEN which shifted in whilst racing fiercely. DINZIG RED then raced fiercely through the middle stages of the race.

Trainer J DANN (TORDACITY) was questioned concerning the different riding tactics adopted for this race. He stated that the gelding failed to handle the dead track conditions at its two previous starts and here having drawn the outside barrier the instructions were to go back however if you can not do so don’t stay wide go forward as it was not a strong field and try and dictate your own pace. Stewards advised Mr Dann of the importance of consistent performances. Explanation noted.

An inquiry was opened into the running and handling of HANS CHRISTEN. After taking evidence from Jockey J Sharp, trainer R Lipp which found there were no specific instructions other than to get cover and once you received cover ride similarly as per the last two starts. Jockey Sharp stated that its pervious start he reached the lead quickly then restrained settling fifth to sixth on the fence worked his way forward from the 600m to win, on this occasion could not reach the lead and in a three wide position restrained, raced fiercely to the 1200m settling sixth or seventh with a trail, attempted to go forward at the 600m but his mount failed to respond finishing the race disappointing. After hearing evidence from K Yoshida (SEQUEL SCENE) and all parties in particular Jockey J Sharp and on viewing the films Stewards were of the opinion with the contributing factors from SEQUAL SCENE which shifted out and with KRYSTALTE after being taken out may have shifted back in when it clipped heels would be unable to sustain the charge but reprimanded Jockey Sharp as being the main contributor.
