From TTC meeting, 16.9.06
Trainer P. Nolan reported on 18 September that CHOCOLATE SUNDAE had sustained a deep puncture wound to the outside of the near hind leg during the running of the class 4 H’cap (1224m) at the above race meeting.
RACE 1: Clive Berghofer Group 3yo Fillies Maiden H’cap – 900m
1st – La Moneta 2nd – Seconde 3rd – Jenn 4th – Gondwana Girl
Time Off – 14 minutes
Due to transport difficulties, S. Bogenhunber was unable to fulfil her engagement on TELESTO’S GEM and was replaced by Z. Landry.
SECONDE (J. Sharp) jumped away awkwardly, and shortly afterwards was tightened for room between MATINEEIDOL (P. Wolfgram) and SWOOPS (N. Tomizawa), which shifted out.
PARTY RITZ (P. Hammersley) jumped away awkwardly, making contact with VIETNAMS OVER (P. Randall).
Approaching the 700m, SECONDE, when racing greenly, shifted away from the heels of SWOOPS, resulting in MATINEEIDOL, which was racing to the outside, being forced to ease off the heels of DRAMA IN THE WINGS (J. Warrington).
On entering the straight, VIETNAMS OVER shifted out under pressure, forcing SAVANNA LASS (A. Taylor) wider on the track.
DRAMA IN THE WINGS, SECONDE and SWOOPS all raced wide throughout.
SAVANNA LASS (A. Taylor) raced greenly throughout.
On pulling up after the winning post, TELESTO’S GEM shifted out to avoid the heels of JENN (S. Katsidis) and in doing so blundered, dislodging Z. Landry.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of LA MONETA, trainer R. Kirwin stated that at its first start, the filly had been caught wide and back in the field and as a result failed to run on, and at its last start LA MONETA had a hard run in front and did not run out the 1313m. R. Kirwin further explained that the filly had drawn better today then in previous starts, and today’s 900m distance was a more suitable distance and he expected LA MONETA to race well.
RACE 2: Optus Business Direct 3yo C&G Maiden H’cap – 900m
1st – Androuge 2nd – Crafty Ruler 3rd – Sound Srategy 4th – Lights Ablazing

FIREMAN (C. Spry) jumped with its head in the air and lost ground.
LIGHTS ABLAZING (J. Sharp) and BACK PAGE (C. Bumstead) were slow to begin.
Near the 700m, FIREMAN improved on to the heels of ANDROUGE (S. Katsidis) and was obliged to ease.
ACT OF NATURE (P. Randall) raced wide in the early stages.
Near the 500m, ANDROUGE (S. Katsidis) shifted in, making heavy contact with LIGHTS ABLASING, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
BACK PAGE (C. Bumstead) raced wide throughout.
RACE 3: 3 Way Photos Class 3 H’cap – 900m
1st – Kiss Me First 2nd – Craiglea Cowboy 3rd – Coal Bay 4th – August Fair

As jockey B. Johnson was to be overweight, J. Sharp was substituted as the rider of BARBARIAN, and P. Wolfgram as the rider of ORDOS in race 8. B. Johnson was fined the sum of $100.
BARBARIAN was declared a late scratching at 2.19 p.m. on veterinary advice after the horse was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon at the barriers and found to be lame in the off foreleg. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on BARBARIAN were ordered to be refunded with no deductions applicable. Trainer G. Lane was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for BARBARIAN prior to its next race start.
DANLO (P. Wolfgram) was slow to begin.
QUEENIE AMBER (S. Richardson) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in at the start, making heavy contact with KISS ME FIRST (M. Sano).
ROSAMIA (K. Banks) jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 700m, CRAIGLEA COWBOY (M. Rice) was obliged to ease when racing between AUGUST FAIR (A. Taylor) and SMOKE STORM (S. Apthorpe), which shifted out.
Near the 650m, FUR TRADER (L. McCoy) shifted in and became awkward after making contact with the hind quarters of ROSAMIA.
COAL BAY (J. Warrington) was held up for clear running between the 400m and 100m.
Leaving the 300m, S. Apthorpe, rider of SMOKE STORM, was obliged to stop riding when tightened for room between DANLO (P. Wolfgram) and AUGUST FAIR (A. Taylor), which shifted in.
RACE 4: Xerox Shop Toowoomba Maiden Plate 1300m
1st – Submersible 2nd – Able Seaman 3rd – Talk To The Hand 4th – Iv’s Chance
Time off – 5 minutes
SAINT CHANKA was declared a late scratching at 8.30 a.m.. Trainer R. Mackay was fined the sum of $300.
An inquiry into the reason for S. Bogenhuber being dually engaged for BET ‘N’ BARNEY and IV’S CHANCE was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
VIKING TREASURE (N. Tomizawa) blundered on jumping away, losing ground.
ROSMA (J. McKinnon) and SUBMERSIBLE (C. Spry) were both slow to begin. Shortly after, SUBMERSIBLE shifted in, making contact with ROSMA.
Approaching the 800m, EVE (A. Taylor) had to be steadied off the heels of RAISE THE SOUND (J. Murphy), which was taken in by GO THE RED (P. Randle).
Leaving the 800m, TALK TO THE HAND (S. Apthorpe), which was overracing on the heels of CATCH THE COUGAR (S. Katsidis), shifted in, causing ABLE SEAMAN (P. Spry) to be tightened for room and ease.
Leaving the 300m, SIR TRISDAN (P. Wolfgram) was disappointed for a run between GO THE RED (P. Randall) and IV’S CHANCE (T. Banks) and was obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.
Over the concluding stages, RAISE THE SOUND (J. Murphy) had to be checked when tightened for room between ABLE SEAMAN (P. Spry), which shifted in, and SUBMERSIBLE (C. Spry), which shifted in. Both P. Spry, rider of ABLE SEAMAN, and C. Spry, rider of SUBMERSIBLE, were reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care in future.
FOUR KINGS (M. Rice), PICARING (C. Bumstead) and BET ‘N’ BARNEY
(S. Bogenhuber) raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of SUBMERSIBLE, trainer R. Hawkswell stated that after the gelding had raced at Goondiwindi at its last start where it had been caught wide throughout, he had added a tongue-tie for today’s event and he felt that the horse had responded to that gear change. He further stated that he had not expected such a forward showing today and had not supported the gelding.
RACE 5: Len Patti Mitsubishi Class 2 H’cap – 1600m
1st – Mixed Dozen 2nd – Lady’s Opinion 3rd – Spectacular Pic 4th – Ela Mana Dane

ECHO LAD (J. Pujolas) and SILVER SUNDAY (C. Spry) were slow to begin.
MIXED DOZEN (J. Sharp) was tightened at the start between REMINGTON STEEL (P. Hammersley) and PRINCE PERUGINO (S. Katsidis), both of which shifted ground.
Leaving the 1400m, PRINCE PERUGINO (S. Katsidis) shifted in, resulting in MIXED DOZEN (J. Sharp) having to be eased.
LADY’S OPINION (H. Hamada) raced wide in the early stages.
UNATTAINABLE (Z. Landry) was forced to race wide throughout.
RACE 6: Masgold Labour Hire Open H’cap – 1600m
1st – Adavale Hornet 2nd – Astroflash 3rd – Rue The Saint 4th - Alifly

RUE THE SAINT (N. Tomizawa) jumped away awkwardly, making contact with DANAZEEVA (A. Taylor).
ADVALE HORNET (S. Drake) was obliged to race wide until approaching the 800m.
ZEDSQUARE (D. Green) and CRAIGLEA BOB (M. Rice) raced wide throughout.
RACE 7: A&G Storage Sheds Class 6 H’cap – 1100m
1st – Dantibes Rhythm 2nd – Taabinga Lass 3rd – Welcome Site 4th - St Nicco

DANTIBES RHYTHM (C. Spry) jumped awkwardly.
JESTER’S DANCE (P. Spry), which was inclined to lay in throughout the race, was forced to ease from the heels of DANTIBES RHYTHM approaching the 900m.
Leaving the 600m, JESTER’S DANCE had to be eased from the heels of PENETRATOR, which shifted in.
PENETRATOR (P. Hammersley) raced wide throughout.
RACE 8: Amalgamated Pest Control Class 1 H’cap - 1100m
1st – Pagan County 2nd – Afleet Boy 3rd – Jacaranda Charm 4th – Drop Of Hennessy

Trainer L. Manzelmann was fined $400 for declaring M. Rice and subsequently N. Tomizawa as the rider of DROP OF HENNESSY without first confirming such engagements with those riders.
DESERT COLUMN (P. Hammersley) was slow to begin.
DANISH BEAUTY was considerably slow to begin.
PAGAN COUNTY (S. Drake) jumped outwards at the start, taking MR ALBERT (P. Spry) out on to DOMINUS LORD, which blundered on jumping away.
AQUA’S BEST (C. Spry) was tightened for room shortly after the start when racing between JUST A FREAK (A. Taylor) and JACARANDA CHARM (C. Bumstead), which shifted out.
ZEUS ALMIGHTY (D. Green), which was held up from the 600m, improved to the inside of ORPEN ALL HOURS (K. Banks) approaching the 500m where there was insufficient racing room, obliging D. Green to restrain ZEUS ALMIGHTY. ZEUS ALMIGHTY was then unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the event.
AQUA’S BEST (C. Spry) was held up for clear running from the 100m onwards.
DOMINUS LORD, MR ALBERT, PAGAN COUNTY, ORDOS and JUST A FREAK (A. Taylor) all raced wide throughout.
