SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Stewards today inquired into the reasons for licensed jockey W. J. Cook riding at Oakey Racecourse without a body protector on the afternoon of 28 March. Subsequently, W. J. Cook was found guilty of a charge under AR87B(1) and was fined the sum of $300.
Race 1: Inner Circle Rum 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
1st – Identify 2nd – Pavise 3rd – Brave Clang 4th -Thetoppie
THETOPPIE (P. Wolfgram) blundered badly on jumping away, losing considerable ground.
PAVISE (A. Best) was tightened for room on jumping away between OUR ARCTIC EXPRESS (K. Yoshida) and JELLY CRYSTAL (T. Bannon), which was taken out by MACKEYE (M. Palmer), which jumped away awkwardly.
MISS WHIZ BANG (C. Dixon) and BABY BLING BLING (M. Dorrington) were a little slow to begin.
Shortly after straightening, THETOPPIE shifted out and brushed JELLY CRYSTAL. As a result, JELLY CRYSTAL shifted out abruptly.
K. Banks, rider of BRAVE CLANG, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 350m she did allow her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BABY BLING BLING (M. Dorrington), which in turn shifted in, tightening the running of MACKEYE (M. Palmer), resulting in MACKEYE losing its position and having to be checked. K. Banks was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings.
K. Banks was found guilty of a further charge of careless riding, in that she allowed her mount to shift out near the 100m when insufficiently clear of THETOPPIE, forcing that horse across the heels of PAVISE (A. Best) and as a result THE TOPPIE had to be checked. K. Banks was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 10 meetings. Stewards ordered that both suspensions incurred be served concurrently, to commence at midnight, 13 April, and to expire at midnight, 2 May 2008.
FLYING HALO (S. Drake) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
UNICORN GIRL (C. Isdale) raced wide throughout.
A post race veterinary examination of JELLY CRYSTAL (T. Bannon) revealed the filly had sustained lacerations to the inside of its mouth.
Race 2: XXXX Bitter 4yo & Up Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Uncle Jan 2nd – Prince Hattal 3rd – Easy Flick 4th - Carmengetit
When proceeding to the barriers, K. Banks was dislodged from FINALLY OURS. FINALLY OURS was quickly recaptured, examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
SCOOTER (A. Best) and JUST A STUNNER (N. Evans) jumped away awkwardly.
ESKIMO BOB (S. Holcombe) jumped outwards at the start and bumped REQUESTALADY (S. Drake).
Near the 800m, JUST A STUNNER was inclined to shift out and had to be checked off the heels of EASY FLICK (M. Dorrington).
A short distance later, REQUESTALADY shifted out across the heels of CARMENGETIT (K. Forrester) and had to be steadied. REQUESTALADY was then inclined to lay out.
Passing the 500m, JUST A STUNNER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CARMENGETIT, which shifted in. K. Forrester, rider of CARMENGETIT, was reprimanded.
Ner the 350m, SEQUALO SNRISE (C. Dixon), which was inclined to lay in, had to be checked when tightened for room between LEICA LION (P. Wolfgram) and UNCLE JAN (K. Pope), which was taken in by PRINCE HATTAL (G. Geran), which when hanging shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Race 3: JJ Atkins QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Hello Danz 2nd – Come Said The Boy 3rd – Red Felt 4th – Lindner Girl
BALBOA STAR (C. Dixon) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with HONOUR BARNEY (M. Sharp).
SLEPNER (M. Palmer) was slow to begin.
Near the 800m, SOUTANE (A. Best) and SLEPNER (M. Palmer) were placed in restricted room to the inside of DACK’S FAZ (L. McCoy), which shifted in slightly.
After passing the 500m, LINDNER GIRL (K. Banks) commenced to hang out. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that a warning was being placed on LINDNER GIRL regarding its racing manners.
Apprentice M. Sharp, rider of HONOUR BARNEY, was reprimanded for using her whip on a horse that was clearly out of contention.
DACK’S FAZ raced wide throughout.
Race 4: McKeena Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Lady Showheart 2nd – Buddha Babe 3rd – Fluency 4th – Picawile
HODGES STREET was declared a late scratching at 8.08 am. Trainer B. Baldwin was fined $200 for failing to scratch HODGES STREET by the prescribed time.
Apprentice B. Evans was reprimanded for failing to claim his full allowance on ARGUNG ARCHIE.
WYREEMA (A. Spinks) and ARGUNG ARCHIE (B. Evans) were slow to begin.
Apprentice S. Drake, rider of MR PROTECTOR, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1000m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MINDIL BEACH (K. Banks), which in turn was taken in, tightening the running of ARGUNG ARCHIE (B. Evans) onto the hind quarters of PICAWILE (M. Palmer). MINDIL BEACH and ARGUNG ARCHIE had to be checked and lost their positions as a consequence. S. Drake was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings.
S. Drake was found guilty of a further charge of careless riding, in that near the 800m, she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BURMAK, which in turn shifted in, tightening MASTER NICK (A. Pattillo) in, resulting in JIMIDEAN (S. Galloway), which was racing back and to the inside of MASTER NICK, having to be checked. JEROME’S STAR, which was following, also had to be checked as a consequence. S. Drake was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 12 meetings.
Near the 1100m, PICAWILE (M. Palmer) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LADY SHOWHEART (R. Goltz), which shifted in. R. Goltz, rider of LADY OF SHOWHEART, was advised to exercise more care.
S. Holcombe, rider of DUSTMEN, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 900m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MR PROTECTOR (S. Drake), which was taken in, tightening the running of BURMAK (C. Isdale), which in turn tightened the running of MASTER NICK, which in turn shifted in, tightening the running of JIMIDEAN, which as a consequence shifted in, resulting in JEROME’S STAR (M. Dorrington) having to be checked. In this incident, MASTER NICK had to be steadied when severely crowded. S. Holcome was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 13 April and to expire at midnight, 26 April.
Passing the 700m, BURMAK (C. Isdale) and MASTER NICK (A. Pattillo) were forced to race in restricted room to the inside of MR PROTECTOR (S. Drake).
Near the 500m, MR PROTECTOR shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of LADY SHOWHEART (R. Goltz). BURMAK (C. Isdale), which was following, had to be steadied.
Near the 400m, PICAWILE (M. Palmer), which was inclined to lay in and away from BURMAK (C. Isdale), blundered and shifted in, further tightening the running of JEROME’S STAR (M. Dorrington), which had to be steadied. WYREEMA (A. Spinks); which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence.
WYREEMA was unable to obtain clear running for the majority of the straight.
ARGUING ARCHIE raced wide throughout.
A post race veterinary examination of ARGUING ARCHIE revealed the gelding had sustained an abrasion to the rump.
The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that JIMIDEAN had lost its near fore plate in running and had been galloped on on the near hind hock.
Race 5: Boc Class 5 H’cap – 1300m
1st –Oh Ruby 2nd – Cambric 3rd – Picworth 4th - Onion
ROCK BABY ROCK (C. Spry) and ONION (M. Dorrington) were slow to begin.
EXORBITANT (R. Goltz) jumped away awkwardly.
ROCK BABY ROCK (C. Spry) was momentarily held up for clear running near the 200m.
ONION (M. Dorrington) was momentarily held up for clear running passing the 200m.
BOSCOBABE (M. Price) and BUCK’S CHARM (N. Evans) raced wide for the majority of the race.
The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that ROCK BABY ROCK returned to scale with blood in one nostril. Trainer P. Cox was advised that ROCK BABY ROCK must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop prior to its next race start.
Race 6: XXXX Gold Weetwood H’cap – 1300m
1st – Swiss Ace 2nd – Cocktail Supreme 3rd – Foolish 4th – Friendly Embrace
STOOD UP broke through the barriers prior to the start, however the horse was quickly restrained by its rider, examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
SWISS ACE (K. Pope) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with UMAPRINCE (A. Spinks).
ENRIQUE (A. Pattillo) jumped away awkwardly.
THE BIG EASY (D. Evans) was slow to begin.
HARD TO CATCH (B. Pengelly) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
Approaching the 200m, FRIENDLY EMBRACE (K. Yoshida) shifted out, taking VOCALIC (P. Wolfgram) wider on the track. MURRAY DOWN (W. Cook), which was weakening had to be momentarily steadied as a result. STOOD UP (A. Taylor) then improved quickly on to the heels of MURRAY DOWN and was obliged to shift out abruptly to avoid that gelding’s heels.
UMAPRINCE and COCKTAIL SUPREME (K. Forrester) raced wide throughout.
Race 7: XXXX Gold Toowoomba Cup – 2050m
1st – Sir Sensible 2nd – Jussemi 3rd – Palace Lover 4th – Nellie Got There
DREAM GAL was declared a late scratching at 8.08 am on veterinary advice.
DRIZZLE (J. Holder) jumped away awkwardly.
S. Drake, rider of OSTRAS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1700m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of INTHEWAY, which was taken in, tightening the running of LITTLE STRANGER (M. Palmer, which was crowded and had to be checked and lost its position. S. Drake was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 15 meetings, to commence at midnight 12 April and to expire at midnight, 4 May. S. Drake was also fined $500. Stewards ordered that the 2 suspensions incurred in race 4 and the suspension incurred in this race be served concurrently.
Shortly after entering the straight, REZONE (K. Pope), which was endeavouring to obtain clear running, had to be checked off the heels of NELLIE GOT THERE (B. Pengelly).
At the 350m, REZONE improved up on to the heels of OSTRAS (S. Drake) and had to be checked.
P. Wolfgram, rider of MISS ARMIDALE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 200m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LITTLE STRANGER, resulting in LITTLE STRANGER being tightened and losing its position when having to avoid the heels of MISS ARMIDALE. P. Wolfgram was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 13 April and to expire at midnight, 26 April. P. Wolfgram was also fined $500.
Approaching the 50m, REZONE had to be steadied when that horse improved up on to the heels of INTHEWAY (B. Calkin).
SKYLEDA (J. Taylor) raced wide throughout.
A post race veterinary examination of PRECISE TIMING failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that REZONE returned to scale with blood in its near-side nostril. Trainer M. Mair was advised that REZONE must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop before stewards prior to its next race start.
Race 8: James Taylor/Heatcraft Class 3 Plate - 1600
1st – Low Profile 2nd – Supreme Agenda 3rd – Alvaldi 4th – Just A Classic
J. Taylor was dislodged from SUPREME AGENDA when proceeding to the barriers. SUPREME AGENDA was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
Passing the 400m, MISTRESS OF DREAMS shifted in and bumped JUST A CLASSIC (R. Thompson).
Near the 350m, when endeavouring to obtain a run to the outside of RAUTAI’S RISING and inside TACT (S. Galloway) where there was doubtful room, IT’S RAINING MONEY had to be checked when the horse shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of TACT.
MISTRESS OF DREAMS (R. Wiggins), BUT SAY and COOL EDGE raced wide throughout.
A post race veterinary examination of MISTRESS OF DREAMS failed to reveal any abnormalities.
