Race 1: QUEENSLAND CANCER COUNCIL NOY C,G & E MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M.
1st – Spinada 2nd – Sam’s Crossing 3rd – Lightning Flash 4th - Fleischmans Rocket
Trainer L Madden (THORMANBY) was fined $200 for incorrect gear under AR140A.
Apprentice M O’Brien (LIGHTNING FLASH) replaced apprentice M Hellyer who was injured prior to the commencement of the meeting.
SPINADA (N Evans) slow to begin.
FLEISCHMANS ROCKET (S Drake) was crowded for room shortly after the start between VOLKALO (S Apthorpe) and SAM’S CROSSING (J Letherby) both of which shifted ground.
Near the 1200m LIGHTNING FLASH (M O’Brien) shifted out taking PUNCTILIO (G Geran) out onto THORMANBY (J Brown).
Near the 700m HARDWICK (R Goltz) improved up onto the heels of JUST WING IT (K Banks) and had to be steadied and eased wider on the track.
Near the 350m JUST WING IT (K Banks) shifted out momentarily inconveniencing SPINADA (N Evans).
Leaving the 200m MR DAYBREAK (M Morris) was tightened for room when racing between FLEISCHMANS ROCKET (S Drake) and SAM’S CROSSING (J Letherby) which shifted in.
Race 2: TOOWOOMBA HOSPITAL FOUNDATION F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M.
1st – Lonesome Tycoon 2nd – Princess Kimono 3rd – Millsie Moo 4th – Wild Wild Rose
CHOISIR LA BLOND was withdrawn by order of Stewards at 9.00 a.m. on Veterinary advice. Trainer P Nolan Jnr was advised a Veterinary certificate is required for the mare prior to next racing.
Trainer M Brosnan (LONESOME TYCOON) was fined $100 for late declaration of rider under LR70.
Trainer C Brown (MISS VOLI) was questioned as to the reason for his late declaration of rider. After considering his explanation, Stewards were satisfied ther were mitigating circumstances. No further action.
At the start MILLSIE MOO (S Drake) and TREASURE MOUNTAIN (J Byrne) were tightened for room between MACS FOLLY (J Letherby) and PRINCESS KIMONO (S Bogenhuber) which shifted out.
MATALAN (R Goltz) began awkwardly.
Near the 1200m MISS VOLI (M Wood) had to be steadied off the heels of LUCY’S OPINION (R Hinricks) which shifted in and as a consequence MISS VOLI then shifted out making contact with LONESOME TYCOON (L Cheshire).
The saddle of MACS FOLLY (J Letherby) shifted forward in the early stages placing the rider at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race and near the 1000m over raced and shifted out making heavy contact with MISS VOLI (M Wood).
Approaching the 1000m TUESDAY DREAM (A Taylor) over raced at the heels of MISS ONLY YOU (G Geran) and as a result TREASURE MOUNTAIN (J Byrne) which was trailing had to steady his mount.
LUCY’S OPINION (R Hinricks) and MISS VOLI (M Wood) raced wide for the majority of the event.
LONESOME TYCOON (L Cheshire) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.
MACS FOLLY (J Letherby) retired from the event leaving the 400m.
TREASURE MOUNTAIN (J Byrne) which yielded ground was examined by the Veterinary Officer after the race and found to be suffering Cardiac Arrythymia. Trainer N Petersen was advised that an ECG Veterinay Clearance be produced for TREASURE MOUNTAIN before it again races.
Race 3: RACETREE CHARITY STALLION TENDER QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1100M.
1st – Swift Sands 2nd – Street Sign 3rd – Uphebobs 4th - Indiana
FIORELLO (N Tomizawa) which dislodged its rider at the barrier was examined by the Veterinary Officer and cleared to start.
CATTLERAIL (K Pope) tightened on jumping away between FIORELLO (N Tomizaza) and OAXACA (A Taylor) which shifted out.
ROSIE’S HALO (M O’Brien) was slow to begin.
OAXACA (A Taylor) raced ungenerously and got its head in the air refusing to settle in the early stages of the event.
CERULEAN BLUE (J Byrne) hung out rounding the 800m.
Approaching the 700m STREET SIGN (J Brown) shifted out to improve and in doing so forced FIORELLO (N Tomizawa) and UPHEBOBS (K Yoshida) wider on the track. Both FIORELLO and UPHEBOBS were obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.
OAXACA (A Taylor) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Leaving the 200m HEY BIG SILVER (G Geran) had to be steadied off the heels and alter course to avoid the heels of FIORELLO (N Tomizawa) which shifted in under pressure.
Jockey K Yoshida (UPHEBOBS) reprimanded under the provisions of AR137A(5) for his whip use on that horse over the final 100m.
Race 4: MATRIX PLANNING SOLUTIONS CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1050M.
1st – Diasco 2nd - Rhodamine 3rd – Mystic Mountain 4th – Mr Montgomery
GO NUGGET (J Wood) began awkwardly resulting in the horse losing valuable ground.
SO SHALL THIS (B El-Issa) began awkwardly shifted in making contact with LENNIE SEQUALO (A Taylor) which also began awkwardly.
BANNETT (G Geran) raced wide for the majority of the race.
DIASCO (J Letherby) was held up for clear running from leaving the 400m to just inside the 200m.
Near the 50m GO NUGGETT (J Wood) improved up onto the heels of SO SHALL THIS (B El-Issa) and had to be steadied and alter course.
Race 5: QIMR F&M CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200M.
1st – Just A Glamour 2nd – Telbron Gold 3rd – Girls Aloud 4th – Chasing Dreams
Apprentice J Letherby (KAADEEMA) replaced apprentice M Hellyer who was injured prior to the commencement of the meeting.
MESADIE MISS (J Byrne) was a late scratching at 6.16 p.m. on Veterinary advice when it broke through the barriers and galloped a considerable distance. All bets on MESADIE MISS were ordered to be refunded and deductions made less 10c in the $1 win, less 10c in the $1 place. Trainer K Waller (MESADIE MISS) was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the horse before it next races.
GIRLS ALOUD (G Geran) was extremely fractious in the barriers and as a result began awkwardly. Trainer M Nolan (GIRLS ALOUD) will be advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate before the mare next races.
KIZZMIRR (C Dixon) and KAADEEMA (J Letherby) were both slow to begin.
Leaving the 200m GIRLS ALOUD (G Geran) shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped AVANT RAPIDE (R Goltz).
GIRLS ALOUD (G Geran) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the fiinal 100m.
Race 6: BAHRAM STUD TRAINING CENTRE C,G&E CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200M.
1st – Black Dakota 2nd – Nobody Knows 3rd – Dark Knight 4th - Emmertt
Trainer M Webb (DARK KNIGHT) fined $100 for late declaration of rider under LR70.
PROTO (K Banks), POINCIANA (M Wood) and SNOBERG (J Byrne) were all tightened on jumping away between GO EASY (J Wood) and NOBODY KNOWS (R Goltz) both of which shifted ground. As a result of this incident GO EASY (J Wood) then shifted out making contact with FANCY BACHELOR (R Hinricks) which in turn was forced out onto BLACK DAKOTA (N Tomizawa).
NOBODY KNOWS (R Goltz) over raced in the middle stages of the event.
BLACK DAKOTA (N Tomizawa) raced wide for the majority of the event.
NOBODY KNOWS (R Goltz) and CROIX DE FER (G Geran) were both held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
Approaching the finish of the event EMMERTT (K Yoshida) was tightened for room by BLACK DAKOTA (N Tomizawa) which shifted in.
When questioned regarding the diaappointing performance of PROTO, jockey K Banks could offer no tangible explanation. A post race Veterinary examination of PROTO (K Banks) revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate. Trainer G Banks to be advised that a Veterinary Certificate of fitness will be required before PROTO again races.
Apprentice M O’Brien (BALBOA STAR) was treated by the Ambulance Officers for an injury to her right toe sustained when she brushed the gates on jumping away.
Race 7: CLIVE BERGHOFER LAND SALES CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1200M.
1st – Rocklet 2nd - Mosstang 3rd – Patmoss 4th – Hyde Park
Both PATMOSS (M Hughes) and POISON HONEY (S Bogenhuber) were slowly away.
HEZA FLASHMAN (N Tomizawa) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event and near the 850m shifted out off the heels of GALLANT PILOT (J Letherby) inconveniencing LIFE’S SHORT (S Galloway).
Leaving the 500m STAR OF MINTO (A Taylor) and BASE DANCER (B El-Issa) came together and bumped.
Leaving the 500m POISON HONEY (S Bogenhuber) was tightened for room when racing between ALVALDI (K Yoshida) which shifted in and HYDE PARK (A Best) which shifted out. Jockeys K Yoshida (ALVALDI) and A Best (HYDE PARK) were both instructed to exercise more care in similar suituations.
PATMOSS (M Hughes) had difficulty obtaining clear running from rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m.
Race 8: FITTON INSURANCE HOPEFUL PLATE 2YO PLATE – 1000M.
1st – Ghostnthedarkness 2nd – Emerald Isle 3rd – Little Zachary 4th – Hidden Treasure
SILVERTON (N Tomizawa) was tightened for room at the start by CAPTAIN FUN (A Best) which began awkwardly and shifted out and DEVIL’S DEAL (B El-Issa) which shifted in and away from PAPARAZZI BLONDE (D Craven).
JUST ABOUT READY (R Hinricks) was slow to begin.
Near the 750m DEVIL’S DEAL (B El-Issa) had to be steadied off the heels of PAPARAZZI BLONDE (D Craven) when that horse was eased. As a result BANDERIN (S Bogenhuber) which was trailing was inconvenienced.
JUST ABOUT READY (R Hinricks) over-raced in the middle stages of the race.
Near the 550m ISTAAR (A Taylor) was crowded for room by PAPARAZZI BLONDE (D Craven) which shifted in. As a consequence GHOSTNTHEDARKNESS (K Yoshida) which was trailing had to be steadied and shifted out inconveniencing both CAPTAIN FUN (A Best) and DEVIL’S DEAL (B El-Issa).
JUST ABOUT READY (R Hinricks) shifted ground rounding the home turn.
CAPTAIN FUN (A Best) raced greenly in the straight.
Race 9: FITTON INSURANCE BROKERS OPEN HANDICAP – 1625M.
1st – Roy’s Legacy 2nd – Nevada Gambler 3rd – Foolish 4th – Three Tenors
FOOLISH (A Best) and THREE TENORS (S Apthorpe) were both slow to begin.
BATTLE AT SEA (S Richardson) and DECERTO (N Tomizawa) both over-raced in the early stages of the race.
Leaving the 1200m STRIKING VICTORY (G Geran) shifted out forcing DANDY WARHOLS (M O’Brien) wider on the track.
Apprentice M Speers (ROY’S LEGACY) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137A in that approaching the 450m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of KIMBERLEY DANE (C Dixon) causing that horse to be checked which caused CROWNING FORCE (B El-Issa) which was trailing to stumble and almost fall. Apprentice Speers was suspended from riding in races for a period of eight meetings commencing midnight 30.09.09 and to conclude midnight 11.10.09.
Jockey D Gill (NEVADA GAMBLER) was found guilty under the provisions of AR137A(5) for her whip use on that horse over the final 100m and fined the sum of $300.00
Race 10: FITTON INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 2100M.
1st – Hooray Tobey 2nd – Brilliant Ween 3rd – Coral Flight 4th – Famous Fortune
FRENCH VENTURE (J Murphy) and HOORAY TOBEY (J Byrne) made contact on jumping away.
MORINGA’S KING (S Galloway) over-raced in the middle section of the race.
Approaching the 600m MORINGA’S KING (S Galloway) bumped HOORAY TOBEY (J Byrne) when endeavouring to shift out to improve.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of PRINCE TELESTO, apprentice M Hughes stated the horse only travelled fairly and was under pressure from the 800m. A Veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer R Bradshaw will be advised that PRINCE TELESTO will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to again racing.
