RACE 1: 7 NEWS MAIDEN PLATE – 850M.
1st – Our Girl Meg 2nd - Seethrough 3rd - Deltesco 4th – Flinders Miss
Both SEETHROUGH (G Geran) and TAIMATU (N Tomizawa) jumped away awkwardly losing ground.
VAIN GOLD (J Brown) was inclined to lay out in the early stages.
Near the 550m SEETHROUGH was steadied from the heels of FLINDERS MISS (M O’Brien) which shifted in. M O’Brien was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
DELTESCO (K Yoshida), FLINDERS MISS and SEETHROUGH all laid in once placed under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 2: XXXX GOLD CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1050M.
1st - Beurre 2nd - Teska 3rd – Telesto’s Gem 4th – Mr Montgomery
At the start GENERAL IGLESIA (N Tomizawa) which was slow to begin, shifted out shortly after coming into contact with the hindquarters of BEURRE (A Best).
RACE 3: 7 SUNRISE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1850M.
1st - Crimson Fire 2nd - Etching 3rd - Kaadeema 4th – Pop Legend
A LITTLE DANGER (G Geran) jumped in making contact with KAADEEMA (N Tomizawa).
Leaving the 1600m A LITTLE DANGER which was pulling hard, had to be eased and shift out and away from the heels of POP LEGEND (K Yoshida) which shifted in. A LITTLE DANGER continued to race keenly for some distance. K Yoshida was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
ETCHING (J Brown) which jumped in the air as the gates opened, over-raced from leaving the 1600m until the 800m and raced wide throughout.
Near the 500m A LITTLE DANGER shifted in of its own accord coming into heavy contact with the running rail and becoming unbalanced.
ETCHING laid in from the 350m.
Jockey K Yoshida (POP LEGEND) was fined $200 for giving his mount 2 additional strokes of the whip in the forehand prior to the 100m.
RACE 4: XXXX BITTER CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M.
1st - Kwillem 2nd – Iggy’s Girl 3rd – Fat Henry 4th - Delicious
DELICIOUS (A Best) jumped away awkwardly losing ground.
JAMAICAN MAGIQUE (N Tomizawa) and IN STONE (G Geran) were slowly away.
Near the 1100m DELICIOUS got its head up whilst being steadied.
IN STONE raced wide throughout.
Jockey P Wolfgram (IGGY’S GIRL) was fined $300 for giving his mount 3 additional strokes of the whip in the forehand and using it in consectitive strides on 2 occasions prior to the 100m.
Jockey R Goltz (FAT HENRY) was reprimanded for giving his mount 1 additional stroke of the whip in the forehand prior to the 100m.
Stablehand Mrs B MacGinley sustained a minor head injury when struck by IN STONE in the parade yard.
RACE 5: 7 TODAY TONIGHT MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M.
1st - Indiana 2nd – Deco Tia 3rd – Close Range 4th - Dantonic
TEKKE BOKHARA (G Geran) which jumped away awkwardly, was hampered shortly after the start by BRONZE TINKA (R Goltz) which shifted out.
CLOSE RANGE (J Brown) which jumped away awkwardly, raced wide in the early and middle stages and was held up for clear running from approaching the 200m until the 100m.
DANTONIC (K Yoshida) which was slowly away, laid in during the early and middle stages.
N Tomizawa was unable to give any explanation for the poor performance of SPEED MATTERS. A post race Veterinary examination of SPEED MATTERS failed to reveal any apparent abnormality.
M O’Brien was unable to give any explanation for the poor performance of TREASURE MOUNTAIN. Trainer N Petersen advised stewards that the mare would now be sent for a spell. A post race Veterinary examination of TREASURE MOUNTAIN failed to reveal apparent abnormality.
