At the 800m CANADIAN POPPY moved wider on the track then at the 600m was held up on the heels of EXHILARATER.
BEURRE raced wide from leaving the 600m.
CANADIAN POPPY was held up for clear running from leaving the 400m to near the 250m.
At approximately the 350m EXHILARATER rolled in hampering CANADIAN POPPY which had to steady.
Over the final stages of the race CANADIAN POPPY which was taken in by EXHILARATER making contact with GALLOPING RYHMES.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of SOFIE FATALE, jockey P Wolfgram stated that his instructions were to lead if possible however at the start on jumping away the horse was very lethargic and was never comfortable during the early stages of the race and approaching the 700m when he elected to move out around runners he said the horse was under pressure to maintain momentum from this point on then rounding the home turn was momentarily held up and failed to run on over the final stages of the race. In jockey Wolfgram’s opinion the horse failed to back up from its last start last week. Stewards noted the comments.

The starter, Mr T Woodham, advised of an electrical malfunction on the barriers and in view of this a manual start was effected. Owing to this electrial malfunction no time was taken for the event.
WHAT A TALE (R Hinricks) was reluctant to load causing a minor delay. Trainer P Overell was advised a warning was placed on the gelding.
At the start COURSE HE’S CANNY (L Cheshire) jumped out making contact with MYAGI (P Wolfgram).
PALACE LOVER (A Taylor) was fractious in the barrier.

WHAT A TALE and PALACE LOVER (A Taylor) both raced wide throughout.
Over the concluding stages of the race PALACE LOVER laid in hampering MOUNT VERNON.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ROCKLET, jockey R Goltz stated the horse was slow to jump and he attempted to take a sit behind MANIC MONDAY (K Yoshida) however under the circumstances he was forced to take a sit behind MYAGI(P Wolfgram). He asked the horse for an effort approaching the 700m and was disappointed with the horse at this point and placed the horse under pressure again at the 600m and the 500m but the horse failed to respond to his urgings. Jockey Goltz further stated that on rounding the home turn he expected the horse to show an effort however the horse failed to run on finishing toward the tail of the field. Trainer K Kemp’s representative was also questioned but could not shed any light on the mare’s performance. Stewards noted the comments. A post race Veterinary inspection of ROCKLET failed to find any significant abnormalities.
Following race 2, the starter Mr T Woodham, carried out further testing of the electrical system on the barrier stalls and advised he could not find the source of the problem. In view of this all remaining races will be manually started.

Jockey L Cheshire (DAD’S BLUE BOY) was given the benefit of the doubt for not parading past the judge on the way to the start under AR125.
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of LIGHTS OFF (R Hinricks), trainer K Mothershaw stated the mare was only beaten 2.9lens at its previous start at Warwick and he believed that the performance of the horse on that day was a lot better than the placings would suggest. Mr Mothershaw stated that he told apprentice Hinricks to put the horse where it would race comfortably bearing in mind that they had drawn wide. He also stated that as the horse had travelled 3 wide until rounding the home turn the fact that the horse had run on so well when asked for an effort came as a complete surprise to him. Leaving the 200m FLEISCHMANS ROCKET (R Goltz) was inconvenienced when taken across the heels of MALLORY PARK by ICANWIN which lay in under pressure.
When Stewards questioned trainer R Pereira (ROGUES) regarding the disappointing performance of the mare, she stated that the horse performed below expectations however she believes that the back up of 7 days between races does not suit the horse. She further stated that the horse had worked well during the week and had expected a forward showing and was disappointed that the horse had failed to run on in todays event. Trainer Wickham aslo stated that a change of gear was in order and that the horse would race in blinkers at its future starts until such times as its race manners improved. Trainer Wickham stated the horse’s performance this evening was a little disappointing however she would notify the Stewards should anything untoward occur with the horse over the coming days. Stewards noted the explanation.
A post race Veterinary examination of CURRY KING PRAWN (C Gilby) revealed the mare to be suffering from Bi-Lateral fore-limb lameness. Trainer L Manzelmann was advised a Veterinary certificate is required for the mare prior to next racing.

Stewards inquired into the incident, however after taking evidence from all parties and reviewing the patrol film took no action as Stewards were of the opinion that all horses involved as well as the circumstances contributed to the incident .
A post race Veterinary examination of DARK SECRETS (G Geran) revealed the filly to have bi-lateral discharge from both nostrils. Trainer T Sears was advised a Veterinary certificate is required prior to the filly next racing.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of SILVERTON (A Best), Mr S Fitzgerald, trainer M Webb’s representative advised that the filly had pulled up shin sore and was spelled after her only race start in September.
