After taking evidence from jockey Warrington and hearing his explanation of his use of the whip, Stewards subsequently found him guilty of contravening AR137A(5) on three separate occasions and suspended his license to ride from Race 2 for two (2) weeks, from Race 3 for a period of three (3) weeks and from Race 5 for a period of two (2) weeks commencing 11.01.10 and to conclude midnight 01.02.10. Stewards ordered that these suspensions be served concurrently and Jockey Warrington was notified of his appeal rights.

1st – Tripitz 2nd – Prince Telesto 3rd – Professor 4th – Breaking The Rules

Track temperature: 48 degrees Celsius

Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer G Walters (BLOODY QUICK) as to the reason for the late declaration of rider.

At the start EQUAL SIGN (J Kehoe) jumped in the air and shifted in tightening PRINCE TELESTO (A Taylor) in onto PICAWILE (M Dorrington) which was tightened for room and lost ground and at the same time PROFESSOR (A Best) shifted out marginally.

PICAWILE pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the race.

EQUAL SIGN raced wide from leaving the 800m.

Rounding the home turn PROFESSOR, when improving to the outside of TRIPITZ rolled in making contact with that horse on several occasions.

Leaving the 200m TRIPITZ became awkward for a few strides and shifted out.

Apprentice J Daley (MASTER HUGH) was Charged and pleaded guilty for failing to claim down her full allowance under AR92(12).

Prior to the event FALVELISA (trainer J Brown) which was suffering from a cut to its off-side rump was examined by the Veterinary officer and passed to take its place in the field.

Trainer A-M Jeynes (LET’S BOUGGIE) was fined $100 for late declaration of rider under LR70.

Apprentice J Daley (LET’S BOUGGIE) was found guilty and charged for failing to claim down her full allowance and fined $100 under AR92(12).

LET’S BOUGGIE reared over in the parade yard resulting in apprentice J Daley being examined by the Ambulance Officers and stood down from riding for the remainder of the day. LET’S BOUGGIE became further agitated when replacement rider J Cook went to mount and was subsequently scratched by order of the Stewards at 4.50 p.m. All bets on LET’S BOUGGIE ($26) to be refunded and win bets paid less 3c in the $1 win, less 4c in the $1 place. When questioned regarding the improved performance of SWIFT SANDS (P Wolfgram) trainer N Saunder’s representative, Mr F Moore, stated whilst he was placed in charge of the horse for today’s meeting he believed the instructions were given to the jockey by Mr Saunders prior to today’s meeting. Jockey P Wolfgram stated he was told to ride the horse forward in its usual position today and to take a sit if possible depending on how the race unfolded. Jockey Wolfgram further stated that he elected to allow FALVELISA (A Taylor) go to the front when the mare began well and there was no apparent leader .He then elected to allow the horse to set the tempo of the race by being allowed to race where the horse was comfortable . Jockey Wolfgram stated the mare had worked well for the past 2 weeks and had raced up to its work from the previous week. Stewards noted the comments.

When questioned regarding the performance of LOVE HIT ME, trainer T Pascoe stated it was their intention to ride the horse as it had been ridden last start, which was back in the field if at all possible as the horse raced well that way. Jockey M Dorrington stated that at the mare’s previous start she was tardy at the barrier however today was more relaxed and jumped away well and had improved into a position where he was able to take a sit off the pace without placing the mare under any pressure . He believed that this was the best possible position in the race and consequently the horse had run on well over the final stages of the race. Stewards noted the comments.

Shortly after the start RUMADANE (N Evans) shifted out making contact with CHOCOLATE SOLDIER (K Ashton) on several occasions over 50m.

Nearing the 1000m LIJUDARO shifted in taking RUMADANE in. As a result BUSKER which was following had to be steadied.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of BUSKER (T Banks) trainer J Dawes stated that prior to a let-up the horse had not raced well and since resuming from a let-up has barrier trialed well on two occasions and at the horse’s last start on December 23 finished a creditable 4.7lens from the winner. Mr Dawes stated that the horse has worked well since that last start and he was of the opinion that the extra distance of today’s event was more to the horse’s liking. Mr Dawes further stated that the stable had supported the horse today as they did at every start the horse has had. Stewards noted the explanation.
