SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Stewards spoke to apprentice Melody O’Brien with regards to being dually engaged in Race 3 on LINDY’S OPINION and PRINCESS NIKITA. After questioning app. O’Brien and T. Popp, trainer of PRINCESS NIKITA, stewards accepted the explanation for the dual engagement, however advised both app. O’Brien and Mr Popp that in future greater care should be taken when accepting rides at TAB meetings.
FROM TTC – 06.02.10: Jockey N. Tomizawa pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137A(5) in that in Race 3 at this meeting he struck his mount on 2 occasions in 2 consecutive strides before the 100m. N. Tomizawa was fined $300.
Race 1: ROBERTSON SCANNELL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1625M
1st – Wooroorooka 2nd – Fleischmans Rocket 3rd – Ardmilan 4th – Sarista
Track temperature: 42 degrees celsius
FLEISCHMANS ROCKET (C. Spry) and KEY VENDOR (J. Letherby) made contact on jumping away.
At the 1400m PURE ACT (A.Taylor) commenced to overrace and got its head in the air for a few strides.
ARGENTEUM (R. Goltz) raced wide in the early stages of the event until straightening at the 1300m.
At the 800m WOOROOROOKA (A. Best), when attempting to improve, moved out, making contact with SON OF ZAHA (A. Merritt), taking that horse wider on the track.
At the 200m KEY VENDOR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ARGENTEUM, which was tiring, to obtain clear running.
Stewards spoke to jockey R. Goltz regarding the performance of ARGENTEUM. Jockey Goltz stated that the horse began well and after being caught wide in the early stages settled into the box seat at the 1200m and raced generously and was full of running until the 500m, then nearing the 400m, when placed under pressure, the horse compounded very quickly and failed to run on. Jockey Goltz added that the horse’s performance was very disappointing as he had been told by connections that a forward showing was expected from the horse. Stewards also spoke to connections of ARGENTEUM with regards to the horse’s poor performance. Trainer N. Saunders said that even though jockey R. Goltz rode the horse to instructions, he expected a more forward showing from the horse and he was at a loss to explain the horse’s performance. Mr Saunders undertook to notify stewards if anything comes to light in the days subsequent to the event which may have affected the horse’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination of ARGENTEUM revealed no significant findings. Stewards noted the comments of jockey Goltz and Mr Saunders.
Race 2: G & K LAWSON CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 850M
1st – Adventurous Angel 2nd – Ulmarra 3rd – Rama Kaho 4th – Smokey Mountain

As C. Kearney was indisposed, B. Thomson was substituted as the rider of ADVENTUROUS ANGEL.
PROTO (A. Best), ULMARRA (M. O'Brien) and BITA SEQUALO (A. Merritt) were all slow to begin.
MAGICAL JOKER (J. Letherby) jumped in at the start, tightening RAMA KAHO (R. Goltz) in on to ADVENTUROUS ANGEL (B. Thomson).
CATTLERAIL (A.Taylor) raced wide until rounding the home turn and then weakened over the final stages of the event.
Nearing the 200m CATTLERAIL laid in.
Apprentice C. Priest, the rider of LITTLE MISS BARBIE, accidentally dropped her whip near the 200m.
Race 3: K & R PLUMBING SUPPLIES CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1300M
1st – Chief Cheron 2nd – Seismic 3rd – Flight Lord 4th – Dad’s Blue Boy
Track temperature: 30 degrees celsius.
PRINCESS NIKITA was a late scratching at 2.00 p.m. by order of the stewards.
As C. Bumstead was detained at another venue, A. Taylor was substituted as the rider of PLAYER RUN.
AUBREY GROVE (N. Tomizawa) and LINDY’S OPINION (M. O'Brien) brushed on jumping away.
At the 1200m REGAL PRINCE (N. Evans) shifted in making contact with CHIEF CHERON (J. Letherby) on several occasions. FLIGHT LORD (W. Clasholm), which was following, had to be steadied momentarily.
ICANWIN (C. Eaton) raced wide throughout.
AUBREY GROVE raced wide in the early, middle and latter stages of the event.
Nearing the 450, SEISMIC (A. Best) shifted out making contact with FLIGHT LORD.
Leaving the 400m FLIGHT LORD shifted wider on the track, forcing AUBREY GROVE wider as well.
Race 4: DARLING DOWNS TARPAULINS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Positron 2nd – Canadian Poppy 3rd – Olanal 4th – Rhodamine
Track temperature: 21 degrees celsius.
SOFIE FATALE (B. Thomson), which was awkward in the barriers, was slow to begin.
Approaching the 800m SOFIE FATALE raced with its head in the air and had to be steadied from the heels of CANADIAN POPPY (C. Spry).
Leaving the 350m CANADIAN POPPY had to alter course to the inside of GALLANT PILOT (S. Galvin) to obtain clear running.
Leaving the 200m OLANAL (M. O'Brien) laid in for a few strides when placed under pressure and had to be straightened.
A. Merritt, the rider of POSITRON, accidentally dropped his whip on the home turn.
Race 5: THE IRISH CLUB HOTEL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M
1st – Hope Of Seven 2nd – Diamond Zah 3rd – Thrillseeker 4th – Secret Circus
Track temperature: 20 degrees celsius.
THRILLSEEKER (A. Best) dwelt as the start was effected and lost ground.
BOUND TO ACT (M. Abe) began awkwardly.
RUN ELLA RUN (S. Apthorpe) knuckled on jumping away and lost ground.
Nearing the 1000m MR MAGGAN (C. Gilby), when overracing, charged up on to the heels of HOPE OF SEVEN (A.Taylor) and then shifted out abruptly. In this incident SKYSTEP (M. O'Brien), which was racing to the outside of MR MAGGAN, was taken wider on the track, resulting in DIAMOND ZAH (N. Tomizawa), which was racing to its outside and back from its heels, having to be steadied and shifted out taking RUN ELLA RUN wider on the track.
At the 700m THRILLSEEKER shifted out making contact with RUN ELLA RUN, taking that runner wider on the track.
DIAMOND ZAH and THRILLSEEKER both shifted ground over the final stages of the event.
Race 6: LADIES ONLY CRICKET PLAYING NOW QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M
1st – Audiola 2nd – Roadworthy 3rd – Lady Of Shadows 4th – Forza Potenza
Track temperature: 20 degrees celsius.
LADY OF SHADOWS (J. Letherby) was slow to begin.
FORZA POTENZA (R. Goltz) jumped outwards, tightening MEDWIN (C. Maund) on to AUDIOLA (N. Yamada)
FIRST FACE (A.Taylor) jumped awkwardly with its head in the air.
From the 1200m FORZA POTENZA commenced to overrace and near the 950m had to be steadied off the heels of MEDWIN which shifted in.
At the 500m FORZA POTENZA and LLAMRAI (N. Tomizawa) came together and made contact.
AUDIOLA laid out in the middle stages of the event, rounding the home turn, when placed under pressure over the final stages, and laid out on several occasions between the 100m and the finishing line.
A post-race veterinary examination of MEDWIN failed to reveal any abnormality.
Jockey N. Tomizawa, the rider of LLAMRAI, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137A(5) in that prior to the 100m he struck his mount on 13 occasions and by raising his arm above his shoulder on at least one occasion prior to the 100m. N. Tomizawa’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence immediately and expire at midnight on Friday, 26 February 2010. A fine of $300 was also imposed.
Race 7: TOOWOOMBA CRICKET, HAVE A GO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1625M
1st – Miss Ichi 2nd – Tequilakoko 3rd – Espionage 4th – Frisky Red
Track temperature: 19 degrees celsius.
On jumping away LORD MAXWELL (A. Taylor) was tightened for room between FRISKY RED (J. Kehoe), which jumped out, and LOCHEIL LAD (M. O’Brien), which jumped in.
On leaving the 1500m TEQUILAKOKO (R. Goltz) raced with its head in the air for a short distance when being restrained.
From the 1350m to the 1100m LOCHEIL LAD and ESPIONAGE (A. Best) raced wide.
At the 1000m MISSOURI BOAT RIDE (J. Letherby) and LORD MAXWELL came together and brushed.
FRISKY RED raced wide in the middle stages of the event.
On the home turn FRISKY RED was steadied momenarily off the heels of ESPIONAGE when racing to the inside of TEQUILAKOKO which rolled in.
It was reported that over the final stages of the event LORD MAXWELL (A. Taylor) was eased down as the jockey had some concerns with the oction of the horse. A post-race veterinary examination of LORD MAXWELL failed to reveal any abnormality.
