When questioned regarding the improved performance of KUNNINKIK, as compared to its unplaced run last Saturday, 26 June, trainer T. Smit stated that the horse was first up after a 5 week lay off last week and had benefited from the run. He further added that the extra distance of tonight’s race compared to the race on 26 June was more suitable for the horse. Stewards noted the the explanation.

He added that the horse was racing in a bubble cheeker on the off side for the first time and he felt the horse seemed to resent this gear. Trainer T.
