On jumping TICKLE THE KITTY (G. Geran) became unbalanced after being bumped by MEDIA TART (K. Ashton).

TUNES OF GOLD (M. O'Brien) was slow into stride.

P. Wolfgram (I'M GOOD) stated that the horse jumped well and showed early speed as anticipated, however after establishing this position then raced very keenly and pulled hard throughout the event. He said that approaching the 400m he was concerned that because of the manner in which the gelding raced it was not going to figure in the finish. He added that the horse had been working well and was of the view that although its action throughout the race was satisfactory, it should have performed better than it did. He said that the manner in which the gelding raced in the early and middle stages was the contributing factor to its disappointing performance.

Race 2: TWILIGHT HIGHLIGHTS COMING SOON CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1100M
1st – Gold Rating 2nd – Hussminda 3rd – Convictor 4th – Great Man

Trainer G. Teal was fined $100 under AR. 140A for presenting SPARTANEOUS to race in other than approved gear.

Due to there being a delay in races at Gatton, J. Kehoe and apprentice A. Allen were unable to arrive on course in time to fulfil their engagements and replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

As the gates were released GIVEMECHILLS (A. Mundy) reared and consequently lost considerable ground. A warning was placed against the gelding's barrier manners.

Shortly after the start CAPPIN JACK (K. Ashton) was steadied to avoid the heels of SKYTANA (B. Richardson), which got its head on the side and hung in.

Apprentice B. Richardson, the rider of SKYTANA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 900m she failed to take sufficient measures to prevent her mount shifting in, resulting in TALLYHO (S. Egan) being taken in on to SPARTANEOUS (K. Pedron), which was taken across the heels of BREWER (K. Yoshida), resulting in SPARTANEOUS being severely checked. Apprentice B. Richardson's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 11 June, and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 23 June 2011.

1st – Our Peruggia 2nd – Titanium Rock 3rd – Glow Heart 4th – Striking Rose

Track temperature: 12 degrees Celsius.

Due to transport difficulties M. Abe was unable to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement on ARTSECRETS and was replaced by K. Yoshida.

STRIKING ROSE (A. Allen) and TITANIUM ROCK (W. Clasohm) were slow to begin.

Making the turn near the 1400m TITANIUM ROCK commenced to race keenly, got its head up, shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of ARTSECRETS (K. Yoshida). After this TITANIUM ROCK continued to race keenly and get its head up.

In the middle stages COEN (L. Cumberland) raced keenly.

Jockey W. Clasohm (TITANIUM ROCK) explained he was instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position and allow it to improve into the race from the 600m. He said in accordance with instructions and bearing in mind the horse's weight in tonight's event, he allowed it to settle early and then shift out near the 700m when he allowed it to stride forward to improve into the race. He said that TITANIUM ROCK is a horse which he rides in all its work and he was of the opinion that despite the pace of the race in the middle stages it would finish its race off nicely. Jockey Clasohm was advised that his riding, particularly around the home turn, had come under notice and he was told to ensure that he rides his mounts, particularly at vital stages of the race, in such a manner as to not leave him open to query.

Race 7: SOUTHERN CROSS AUTOMOTIVE MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M
1st – Silent Force 2nd – Bellespy 3rd – Bounty Miss 4th – Breezin'

Track temperature: 11 degrees Celsius.

On jumping BOUNTY MISS (M. O'Brien) was checked between ASTROBABE (N. Yamada) and TATT'S LUCKY (G. Geran), which shifted in. Shortly after this SILENT FORCE (A. Mundy) shifted out taking MR NOBODY (S. Drake) out on to BREEZIN' (W. Clasohm), resulting in MR NOBODY and BREEZIN' both being checked.

Near the 1200m TATT'S LUCKY and MR NOBODY were then crowded between ATLANTA QUEEN (J. Kehoe) and SILENT FORCE which both shifted ground.

Near the 1000m BELLESPY (P. Wolfgram) was momentarily steadied when crowded by PINK PEPPER (K. Yoshida), which in turn was taken in by ATLANTA QUEEN, which shifted in when not properly clear. J. Kehoe, the rider of ATLANTA QUEEN, was reminded of his obligation to ensure he is properly clear when shifting ground.

Near the 800m BESSWISHES (S. Apthorpe) was eased when crowded by AMBEREINE (S. Bogenhuber) which was taken in slightly by PINK PEPPER.

Mr P. O'Sullivan, representing trainer S. O'Sullivan, when afforded the opportunity to explain the improved performance of SILENT FORCE, stated that the gelding had only been in the stable for two starts prior to tonight. He said that after arriving in their care it was found the horse was suffering from discomfort in the back for which it was treated. He said since that time the horse had dramatically improved in its work, however at its first start failed to handle the heavy track conditions. He said following that the horse again raced on a heavy surface and in his opinion was disappointing. He said since that time the horse has continued to work well, however it had been the intention if the horse did not perform in tonight's event to give consideration to discontinuing its preparation. He added that the gelding has also significantly improved in its condition since coming into their care. Mr O'Sullivan was unable to offer any other explanation than to say it was the first time to his knowledge that the horse had raced on the cushion surface and it may now be the intention to try to continue its races on this surface.
