SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From Toowoomba 22.12.11

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason for Nori Yamada being dislodged from his mount PRETTY TIARA near the 800m in Race 6 at Toowoomba - Bethany Liebke Memorial Maiden Plate 1050m on 26 November 2011.

Stewards today took further evidence from App. M. O'Brien , S. Bogenhuber, K. Banks and App. J. Letherby. Stewards also took evidence from App. Letherby's master Mr R. Macrae and from N. Yamada.

After considering the evidence tendered by all parties and viewing the patrol film, Stewards found that near the 800m, ROCKING NEWS (J. Letherby), when being ridden along to obtain a forward position, initially dictated the line of FLASH APACHE (App. M. O'Brien) resulting in that runner being taken in, tightening the running of WHISPERING DEATH (S. Bogenhuber), MISS TALIAH (K. Banks) and PRETTY TIARA (N. Yamada). As a result of PRETTY TIARA being severely tightened for room between MISS TALIAH and the running rail, PRETTY TIARA became unbalanced resulting in N. Yamada losing the use of his near side stirrup iron and being dislodged.

Due to the patrol film being inconclusive, Stewards were unable to determine at what point ROCKING NEWS ceased dictating the line of FLASH APACHE and furthermore whether there was an opportunity for App. M. O'Brien to relieve the pressure to the runners to her inside. Therefore the benefit of the doubt was given to both App. J. Letherby and M. O'Brien as Stewards were unable to determine to the required standard that either party was fully responsible for the incident.

From TTC 22.12.11 – Race 6: Following the disappointing performance of OUTBACK LEGEND, trainer T. Sears reported that on Friday, 23.12.11, a veterinary examination carried out on the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Sears stated that on the day of the race he reported that OUTBACK LEGEND would be sent for a spell, however in light of the veterinary examination he may continue with the filly's current preparation and experiment with a gear change.

Race 1: VIEWHOTELS.COM.AU CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1300M
1st – Zeditave Plus 2nd – Granzella 3rd – Temple Court 4th – Temple Court

Track temperature: 30 degrees Celsius.

Trainer D. Baker advised that GRANZELLA (R. Goltz), which led at its last start over 1200m, would be ridden just off the pace if circumstances permit. Jockey Goltz reported that in an endeavour to ride to the instructions given to him by Mr Baker, GRANZELLA overraced during the early stages of the event and as such raced outside the leader.

MASAYA (J. Brown) and JOLLY GOOD LUCK (M. Abe) were slow to begin.

Approaching the 1100m BEMUSE (N. Tomizawa) was tightened for room between LOVE CHANGES (N. Yamada) and RIB TICKLER (R. Ride) which shifted in and away from GRANZELLA.

Leaving the 800m MASAYA was forced to steady to avoid the heels of BEMUSE.
LOVE CHANGES laid in rounding the home turn.

Near the 200m TEMPLE COURT (S. Bogenhuber), which was awkwardly placed at the heels of AUGUST BISHOP (K. Banks), shifted in to obtain clear running in the run to the line.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of ZEDITAVE PLUS (J. Kehoe), trainer P. Facoory stated that its last start on 12 December was its first run for his stable. He advised that the horse hung in for the duration of the event with an apprentice rider riding the horse on that occasion. Mr Facoory added that tonight he felt the horse was much better suited with a more vigorous rider and also that the horse had improved in its trackwork following its first-up run. Stewards noted the explanation.

Stewards questioned apprentice J. Letherby and trainer W. Baker in relation to the disappointing performance of WINNING DREAMS. Apprentice Letherby stated that WINNING DREAMS never travelled strongly throughout the event and when placed under pressure from the 600m failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion proved disappointing. Mr Baker advised that in his opinion the horse settled further back in the field than he anticipated which may have contributed to the disappointing performance.

Stewards questioned N. Tomizawa and trainer M. Webb in relation to the disappointing performance of BEMUSE. Jockey Tomizawa stated that in his opinion BEMUSE travelled in a more forward position than he would have preferred, given that the horse's best performance was when ridden further back. Jockey Tomizawa added that from the 600m, when asked to improve into the race, the mare failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Mr Webb could offer no tangible explanation for the poor performance, and advised that he would review the horse's current preparation.

During the early stages CONHENRI (J. Kehoe) raced greenly and shifted wider on the track near the 800m and raced very wide from this point.

The start was delayed whilst awaiting the arrival of a replacement ambulance on course.

HOT CHOCOLAT (G. Geran) jumped in at the start, making contact with WINNING MOMENTS (K. Banks).

PERSIAN GLANCE (N. Yamada) shifted out shortly after the start and raced keenly during the early and middle stages.

HOT CHOCOLAT hung in from the 700m.

Near the 400m PERSIAN GLANCE became awkward on the heels of WINNING AGAIN (M. O'Brien) when that runner shifted out to improve.

CLASSIC COUNTRY (R. Goltz) laid in under pressure from leaving the 200m.

HAPPY HOOLIGAN (M. Dorrington) hung out from the home turn.

MR MAGORIUM (R. Ride) lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 6: DJ TYRONE PLAYING NYE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1500M
