Race 1: 7Two Maiden H'cap - 1625m
1st – Time For Indi 2nd – Da Doo Ron Ron 3rd – Hoarfrost 4th – Dodgy Cat
Track temperature: 33 degrees Celsius
A. Hearn, rider of DODGY CAT, dropped his whip near the 550m.
When placed under pressure leaving the 800m, OUT TO SEADANCER commenced to give ground and finished tailed off. The performance of OUT TO SEADANCER was considered unacceptable and trainer R. Thies was advised that the mare would be barred from TAB meetings until such time as its performances improve.
Race 2: Seven QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1625m
1st – Valentine Girl 2nd – Casse Sqarette 3rd – Set The Bar 4th – Exone
Track temperature: 33 degrees Celsius
PANHANDLE (R. Wiggins) began awkwardly.
CASSE SQARETTE (P. Wolfgram) became unbalanced after bumping with SET THE BAR (R. Ride) on jumping away.
Passing the 1500m, FAIRY ROGUE (J. Letherby) and BOUTIQUE HOTEL (S. Bogenhuber) were severely crowded to the inside of NATURE BITES (N. Tomizawa), which after being bumped heavily by CASSE SQARETTE hung in from that horse. As a result of the crowding, FAIRY ROGUE and BOUTIQUE HOTEL (S. Bogenhuber) were checked. Whilst the incident was one of some significance, stewards were unable to apportion blame to any one rider and no action was taken.
Near the 1000m, CASSE SQARETTE was inclined to hang out and then near the 950m shifted out and made contact with EXONE (G. Geran).
P. Wolfgram, rider of CASSE SQARETTE, was fined $250 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m in a forehand fashion. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account P. Wolfgram's relatively good recent record regarding breaches of this rule.
Race 3: Trackside Photography Maiden Plate – 850m
1st – Holy Toledo 2nd – Home And Hosed 3rd – Sequillian 4th - Falvelani
Track temperature: 33 degrees Celsius
Trainer N. Hilton was fined $100 for failing to present the Identification Card for JILLINA SILVER when requested.
Whilst parading to the barriers, TIME TO EXCEED took charge of its rider and galloped for some distance before its rider regained control. After arriving at the barriers, TIME TO EXCEED was examined by the veterinary surgeon, who found the horse's respiratory rate was acceptable and did not exhibit any sweating, and for those reasons passed the horse suitable to race.
Racing into the first turn, TIME TO EXCEED (D. Robinson), which was having difficulty maintaining its position, shifted in slightly, resulting in CEE OF TWO (W. O'Connell) being steadied.
CEE OH TWO was again steadied near the 500m when TIME TO EXCEED commenced to weaken.
On 2 occasions after the 700m, FALVELANI (A.Taylor) jumped shadows on the track.
In the middle stages, SABER LILLY (N. Tomizawa) hung in and near the 500m JILLINA SILVER (A. Fancourt) had to be steadied.
Shortly after straightening, DAME CASS (J. Letherby) was steadied when crowded slightly between HOLY TOLEDO (G. Goold) and SEQUILLIAN (K. Matheson), both of which shifted ground slightly.
In the home straight, SABER LILLY again hung in badly and proved difficult to ride out.
When questioned, jockey D. Robinson explained that during its preliminary, TIME TO EXCEED took charge of him near the 1600m and worked around the track with a tendency to run towards the outside fence. He added that, in his opinion, TIME TO EXCEED would have worked to the 800m at what he described as three-quarter pace. After regaining control of it, TIME TO EXEED was returned to the start and examined by the veterinary surgeon. Jockey Robinson was of the opinion that TIME TO EXCEED had not over exerted itself and was satisfied that the horse was suitable to race and concurred with the veterinary surgeon's decision to allow the horse to start. Jockey Robinson stated that when the field was released, TIME TO EXCEED felt extremely uncoordinated in its action and for some distance when being ridden along in the early stages the horse continued to lose ground and, in his opinion, felt very awkward in its action. He said the action displayed in the race was somewhat different to the action it showed in its preliminary and for this reason he rode the horse along in the early stages, but as it was unable to maintain contact with the field he desisted from pushing the filly along as he was somewhat concerned it may have had something significantly abnormal with it. Trainer N. Hilton advised that he also concurred with the decision of the veterinary surgeon to allow the filly to start. He added that leading up to today's even the horse had been working well and had been successful in a racing jumpout. He said he was unable to offer any explanation for the filly's somewhat poor performance and was unable to explain the reasons put forward by jockey Robinson for the filly's uncoordinated action in the early stages. An on-course post race veterinary examination of TIME TO EXCEED was conducted on 2 separate occasions during the course of the afternoon and both examinations failed to reveal and any visible significant abnormalties. Mr Hilton reported later in the day that TIME TO EXCEED had been examined at his stabes by his clinical veterinary surgeon who performed an endoscopic examination on the filly which confirmed there was no significant abnormality other than a small amount of mucus in the trachea. The performance of TIME TO EXCEED was considered unacceptable and Mr Hilton was advised that the filly would be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial before being permitted to start again. He was further advised that should anything become apparent with the horse in the following days that he should report such matter to stewards.
Race 4: K&R Plumbing Supplies CG&E Class 1 H'cap – 1000m
1st – Savage 2nd – Locimagooli 3rd – Carry Larry's Rose 4th – Hi Hi
Track temperature: 30 degrees Celsius
SAVAGE (G. Goold) dipped at the start and shifted in, causing slight crowding to TERMS (R. Ride).
Shortly after the start, COMMENDATORE (A. Fancourt) had to be steadied off the heels of SQUIRTALO (N. Tomizawa), which shifted in slightly.
In the early and middle stages, COMMENDATORE overraced, hung out and raced extremely wide.
Near the 400m, COMMENDATORE was steadied when crowded between HI HI (J. Kehoe) and JAM TIN (W. O'Connell), which shifted in slightly.
Right at the winning post, T. Harrison was obliged to stop riding LOCIMAGOOLI when the horse was racing closely inside the heels of SAVAGE (G. Goold).
W. O'Connell, rider of the JAM TIN, was reprimanded for failing to weigh in as 5th placegetter.
Race 5: Radio 102.7 FM F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1000m
1st – Pure Purrfection 2nd – Windel Tori 3rd – Heartbroken 4th – Morgan Miss
Track temperature: 30 degrees Celsius
After being boxed, it was noted that KISSING TYPE was bleeding from the right nostril. The horse was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon, who recommended that it be withdrawn. Acting on veterinary advice, KISSING TYPE was declared a late scratching at 3.10 pm.
Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on Kissing Type were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions to apply.
0 cent in the dollar for the win of Pure Purrfection
3 cents in the dollar for place of winner Pure Purrfection
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place Windel Tori

BOUNTY MISS (J. Kehoe) was slow to begin.
PURE PURRFECTION (S. Bogenhuber) was bumped at the start by HEARTBROKEN (N. Tomizawa), which shifted in.
Near the 500m, RAKU TU (W. O'Connell) was steadied inside MORGAN MISS (M. Abe), which shifted in slightly.
In the straight, PURE PURRFECTION (S. Bogenhuber) was inclined to shift out.
Apprentice R. Ride, rider of WINDEL TORI, was reprimanded for shifting in over the concluding stages, which resulted in LANGELINIE (J. Letherby) being restrained.
J. Kehoe, rider of BOUNTY MISS, was fined $300 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m in a forehand fashion.
Race 6: Toowoomba Shade & Canvas Class 2 H'cap – 1625m
1st – Agente 2nd – Tisani Star 3rd – Lady Oscar 4th – Backup Plan
Track temperature: 30 degrees Celsius
SWANSEA JACK (D. Robinson) began very awkwardly.
BIG MAX (T. Harrison) was inconvenienced slightly when AGENTE (B. Richardson) shifted out at the start.
NOELA'S ROMP (A.Taylor) was slow to begin.
Leaving the 1100m, EL VIVO (P. Wolfgram) broke down badly in the off foreleg and was retired from the race.
When questioned, jockey D. Robinson explained that SWANSEA JACK had blinkers on today for the first time and he said he was instructed to ride the horse in a forward position, which he did, however when he placed SWANSEA JACK under pressure from the 700m, it failed to respond to his riding and appeared to race very flat and weakened badly. He added he was unable to put forward any further explanation other than it was the gelding's first race over this distance. Trainer N. Hilton was unable to put forward any explanation for the gelding's performance. Subsequently, Mr Hilton advised that a post-race endoscopic examination of SWANSEA JACK by his clinical veterinarian revealed a significant amount of blood in its trachea which may have led to the gelding's somewhat disapointing performance.
