SPIRIT OF COOLONG, which was inclined to race ungenerously down the back straight hung out making the first turn taking UNCANNY PLEASURE wider on the track.

RACE 3: OATS QTIS 3YO CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1100m
PITTAPADDY was inclined to hang out from the 800m until entering the home straight.
RACE 4: BARLEY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1500m
SEA OF CHEERS was slow to begin.
Prior to correct weight being given, R Goltz, the rider of the third placegetter MICK OR MICHAEL lodged a protest against I LIKE THE MUSIC being awarded second place alleging interference over the concluding stages. After hearing evidence from both rider and viewing the stewards patrol film, stewards were of the opinion that the interference could not be entirely attributed to the second placegetter and therefore the objection was dismissed.
As R Goltz was required to fulfil engagements at a later race meeting an inquiry into an incident over the concluding stages was adjourned until all parties could be present.
The inquiry was held at the Downs Racing office 11th November 2002. It was found that the tiring OUR PARTY LIGHT (NZ) was severely hampered and forced to check over the concluding stages when tightened for room between MICK OR MICHAEL, which shifted in slightly and I LIKE THE MUSIC, which had been allowed to shift out for a distance in the straight. Jockey T Watson was reprimanded for allowing his mount I LIKE THE MUSIC to shift out over the concluding stages.
