RACE 1: GROSS WHOLESALE MEATS MAIDEN PLATE – 800m

Due to a clerical error POSH ALICE was declared a late scratching prior to a market being formed.

GRANTED FAIR, which galloped a lap of the track was inspected by the clubs vet and passed fit to start. Mr Tattam the trainer of GRANTED FAIR was advised that the filly would be required to barrier trial prior to next start.

SANTA FE GAL was considerably slow to begin.

WISHING WIND reared as the start was affected losing ground.

CHARICOOL, which was inclined to hang out during the early and middle stages was hampered and forced to shift wider on the track leaving the 600m, when hampered by BOORINGA LAD, which was forced out by WISHING WIND, when that filly had been forced out by PRESS TO WIN, which had eased and shifted away from the heels of HURRY HOME, which shifted in.

RACE 2: OLSENS PRODUCE CLASS B H’CAP – 1100m

Both TOWN FLIRT and JANEY JEAN were slow to begin.

Approaching the 900m, COUNTESS EXPRESS was forced to ease when tightened for room between LIMERICK LACE and SEATELL, which was forced to shift out to avoid the heels of NOT FUSSED, which was taken in by BOLD LITIGATOR. P G Birney the rider of BOLD LITIGATOR was advised to exercise more care.

An inquiry was adjourned into the reasons for HALF CARAT being checked and SPUD’S SISTER being hampered approaching the 800m.

TOWN FLIRT was held up approaching the home turn.

TOWN FLIRT, COOL SUCCESS and JANEY JEAN made the home turn extremely wide.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SPUD’S SISTER, rider D Gay stated that he had been instructed to lead for barrier one, however was unable to hold the outside horses out and after receiving tightening at the 800m was forced to settle mid field. He further stated that approaching the home turn the horse was under heavy riding and he was of the opinion that the filly had run her race at that point and would capitulate. He was surprised however when the filly finished the race off well in the straight despite being inclined to hang in. Trainer L Clarke, when questioned, stated that he had anticipated that the horse would perform well and had supported that filly today. He did feel that the filly had pulled up well, however he would probably now give her a short spell.
RACE 3: THE DAILY NEWS COMMPRINT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m
Mr. B Tattam the trainer of CRAFTY ROGER, which proved very difficult to load, was advised that the horse would be required to trial prior to next start.

GIRL CHEVAL, which reared over and injured rider P Spry was declared a late scratching at 1:42pm and deduction of 9c win and 10c place were ordered.

Both CHARLEE BUKIT and STRATHCONAN were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start CRAFTY ROGER was hampered by CASH OR CREDIT, which shifted in abruptly.

FLINDERS FLYER was forced to race wide throughout.

INVERLEIGH LAD hung out throughout.

ALPHA FRATE was momentarily held up for clear running making the home turn.

RACE 4: DUGGANDS AMCAL CHEMIST QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m
As P Spry had been injured in the previous event he was replaced as the rider of THE FITTER, by R Morris.

CHAPEAU jumped with its’ head in the air and was slowly into stride.

EYES OF WONDER was slow to begin.

Leaving the 1100m, GOTHIC STAR shifted in hampering MY GAME in onto THE FITTER, which in turn shifted in hampering TISKET LAD.

TISKET LAD hung out throughout and was also inclined to over race.

TISKET LAD hung out making the 800m turn forcing NOEL ‘N’ PETE and EVORG wider on the track.

CHAPEAU was held up for clear running during the early stages of the straight.

RACE 5: WATTLE BRAE DOWNS SERIES CLASS 3 PLATE – 1350m
Both ELDWICK and BIRUBI CHOSEN, which were slow to begin, were tightened for room at the start between THROW A HEART and ALLSORT, which shifted out.

TARA’S SONG shifted out approaching the 800m forcing DANCING SOUND wide, which in turn caused ELDWICK to be eased.

Apprentice A Gain, the rider of CORAL ISLE, was severely reprimanded for not fully testing his mount over the concluding stages when still in contention for fourth place.

It was established that the start for this event had been affected via an electrical fault in the barriers when the starter armed the barriers for the start. After consulting with the starter and the riders in the event it was established that every runner was afforded a fair start and on those grounds correct weight was given.

RACE 6: WARWICK CREDIT UNION WARWICK CUP OPEN H’CAP – 2000m

HYSTERICAL BOSS was forced to race wide throughout.

Apprentice J McKinnon, the rider of ALL HALO was fined the sum of $50 for failing to claim his full allowance.
RACE 7: P&O TRANS AUST/WICKAM FREIGHT LINES OPEN H’CAP – 110m

RIVER AFFAIRE was tightened for room and lost ground at the start between SPIRIT OF NORWAY, which shifted in and ROYAL CONSPIRACY, which shifted out.

SPIRIT OF NORWAY hung out throughout.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
