RACE 1: RAINBOW FM/ SHIRL & SANDY’S MAIDEN PLATE 800M-
1st-Miss Dodge 2nd-Dalingi 3rd-Skyield 4th-Rajhussar

SADDLE YOUR PRIDE (S Bayliss) which attempted to break through the front of the barriers was examined by the club’s Veterinary Surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. As SADDLE YOUR PRIDE’S starting gate was damaged and unable to be used during this incident, all runners were required to be removed from the barriers and moved across one starting stall resulting in a delay to the start. SADDLE YOUR PRIDE’S trainer Ms P Davidson was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next starting.

SPECIAL FOR SURE (K Gates) was hampered at the start between LEEWOOD LAD (A Smith) and MISS DODGE (C Maund) which jumped in.

LEEWOOD LAD raced greenly during the early stages of the event.

RACE 2: KILLARNEY CO-OP/WARWICK CREDIT UNION CLASS B H’CAP 1100M-
1ST-Anathema 2nd-Norse Invader 3rd Tatts Star 4th-Cramps

As barrier number 4 was damaged during race 1 this barrier was not used for the remainder of the day.

DOCTOR WIZZ (B Wallace) jumped in at the start making contact with PLAY THE MARK (M Abe). A short distance later DOCTOR WIZZ was tightened for room and lost ground when racing between BAGHDAD GOLD (M Dorrington) and PLAY THE MARK which was taken out by STREET SIGN (C Maund) which shifted out.

STREET SIGN, CARRY THE BAT (B Thomson), WIDE BAY (M O’Brien) and PLAY THE MARK all raced wide throughout.

App. M Abe pleaded guilty to a charge under Ar 118C (c) in that as the rider of PLAY THE MARK he did attempt to weigh out without his safety vest. App. Abe was fined $500.

RACE 3: ANGUS WICKHAM MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M-
1ST-Zakato 2nd-Blare 3rd-Izachamp 4th-Look At Ruby

SPIFFING was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 11:15am after the gelding was found to have sustained an injury by its trainer at his registered stables. As betting had not commenced no deductions applied. Stewards advised trainer J McMahon that he would be required to obtain a Veterinary Certificate as soon as possible indicating the horse’s inability to race today. Stewards further advised that a Veterinary Certificate of soundness would be required prior to the gelding next starting.

MARGRETHE (B Wallace) jump out at the start hampering PRIVATE LAD (K Banks), KIRKUK (N Tomizawa) and FRISKY RED (L Appo).

FRISKY RED and IZACHAMP (G Geran) both raced wide throughout.

Leaving the 250m, PRIVATE LAD was forced to ease when LOOK AT RUBY (L Roberts) shifted out to obtain clear running. Stewards advised L Roberts to exercise more care when shifting ground for future reference.

Near the 200m, LOOK AT RUBY was hampered by MARGREHTE which was also hampered when taken in by IZACHAMP which shifted in despite the best efforts of its rider.

RACE 4: KILLARNEY CUP CLASS 5 H’CAP 1200M-
1st-So Shall This 2nd-He’s Some Eagle 3rd-Shudule Gee 4th-Mr Mayfair

SHUDULE GEE (B Wallace) and GEE WHIZ (G Geran) both raced wide throughout.

HE’S SOME EAGLE (L Roberts) raced wide for the majority of the event.

RACE 5: LINCON & KILLARNEY BUISNESSES CLASS 2 H’CAP 1350M-
1ST-Mada & Markanyon Dead Heat 3rd-Danni Sharleen 4th-Torymeman

DANI SHARLEEN (G Geran) which began awkwardly and lost ground, over raced during the early and middle stages.

TORYMEMAN (K Gates) jumped out at the start taking DON’TSTOP BELIEVIN (J Warrington) wider on the track.

MADA (B Wallace) raced wide throughout.

MARKANYON (S Bogenhuber) shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages resulting in DANNI SHARLEEN which was following to ease for a short distance.

MADA shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Stewards questioned trainer P Nolan in relation to the tactics adopted on his runner DON’T’STOP BELIEVIN today in that the gelding settled in a more forward position today then in its previous starts. Mr Nolan stated that the gelding began very well today from the wide gate and from that point over raced during the early stages. Mr Nolan further stated that as the gelding put its self in a forward position the rider had no choice but to settle the gelding in a handy position which is in contrast to its normal racing pattern. Stewards noted Mr Nolan’s explanations.
