RACE 1: WARWICK REAL ESTATE/HYNES NEWSAGENCY MAIDEN PLATE 800M-
1st-Significant Choice 2nd-Best Memory 3rd-Sweet Sweet Love 4th-Princess Peach

The start was delayed when BEST MEMORY (C Jokic) which dislodged its rider in the enclosure, then proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers once remounted.

CARRY THE PRIDE (M O’Brien) which was slow to begin, raced very greenly and hung out for the majority of the event.

ROMAN NUMERALS (J Kehoe) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, WOOLGAR ROAD (W Clasohm) and RED SUIT (S Bogenhuber) were both tightened for room and lost ground between ROCKING NEWS (R Goltz) and SIGNIFICANT CHOICE (G Geran) both of which shifted ground.

Near the 650m, FLAG ‘N’FURY (J Letherby) was tightened for room and forced to ease when racing between ROCKING NEWS and SWEET SWEET LOVE which was taken out by BEST MEMORY which shifted out and away from SIGNIFICANT CHOICE.

WOOLGAR ROAD hung out rounding the home turn.

On the home turn, ROCKING NEWS was tightened for room between PRINCESS PEACH (S Apthorpe) and SIGNIFICANT CHOICE which shifted in. Jockey Geran was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Shortly after rounding the home turn, BEST MEMORY was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of PRINCESS PEACH which was taken in marginally by SIGNIFICANT CHOICE. BEST MEMORY then shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with ROCKING NEWS which was inconvenienced.

ROMAN NUMERALS shifted out considerably under hard riding for the majority of the home straight and near the 100m WOOLGAR ROAD was forced to ease to avoid the heels of that runner. Jockey Kehoe was severely reprimanded for permitting ROMAN NUMERALS to shift out.

A short distance after the winning post SWEET SWEET LOVE shifted out forcing RED SUIT to ease to avoid the heels of that runner. Jockey Yamada was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

RACE 2: STEELE’S BAKERY & CAFÉ QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M-
1ST-Affirmative 2nd-Jetalong 3rd-Dame Judi 4th-Burnin’ Away

ACADANE (S Drake) was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary Advice at 2:05pm, after the gelding broke through under the front of the barrier gates. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested of ACADANE be refunded. As the A.R.B method for calculating deductions algorithm was unable to be accessed, Stewards acting under the provisions of LR 113(7)(a) ordered that the following deductions apply- Bets placed prior to 2:05pm on all successful win bets to be paid less 31 cents in the dollar and for all successful place bets less 21cents in the dollar.

The start of the race was delayed when TOPETTE (J Letherby) proved difficult to load.

The start of the race was further delayed when a bandage on AFFIRMATIVE became loose requiring the said bandage to be removed by the Veterinary Surgeon.

Due to a misunderstanding App. A Smith was dually declared on 2 runners in this event. Therefore Stewards permitted App. R Jamieson to replace App. A Smith as the rider of BURNIN’ AWAY.

DAME JUDI (R Ride) was fractious in the barriers.

BURNIN’ AWAY (R Jamieson) was slow into stride.

TOPETTE (J Letherby) and KEZZ’S BOY (G Geran) made contact on jumping away.

BILODEAU (K Yoshida) jumped out abruptly at the start.

Shortly after the start DAME JUDI was tightened for room and forced to ease when between JETALONG (R Goltz) which shifted in and DODGY CAT (S Apthorpe) which rolled out.

Near the 800m, JETALONG raced ungenerously with its head in the air for a short distance whilst being restrained.

Near the 150m, JETALONG was forced to shift out to avoid the heels of KEZZ’S BOY in an attempt to obtain clear running.

RACE 3: HOPE’S SPRING REPAIRS CLASS B H’CAP 1200M-

RACE 4:HOPES BODY REPAIR OPEN H’CAP 1200M-
1st-I’ll Rule 2nd-Canadian Joy 3rd-Duke William 4th-Seventh Heart

START THINKIN’ was tightened for room at the start and lost ground between DIGGING DEEP (S Bogenhuber) and HIDDEN ASSETS (S Egan) which jumped in.

TICTACS (C Jokic) hung out for the majority of the event.

Stewards questioned App. S Egan and Trainer M Jeynes in relation to the disappointing performance of HIDDEN ASSETS. App. Egan stated that whilst the gelding did race keenly during the early and middle stages it still travelled comfortably during the event. App. Egan further added that when placed under pressure from the 400m the gelding failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Mr Jeynes also expressed disappointment with the performance of the gelding which in his opinion failed to back up after racing on a very heavy track at its last start. Mr Jeynes advised that he would now freshen the gelding and review its current preparation. Stewards noted the explanations.

App. S Egan was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out until the conclusion of the event.
