General: As J Camilleri was indisposed the following replacements were approved;
Race 1 Templewood T Hill, Race 2 Contention S Simon, Race 3 Astronito A Spradau
Race 1: Central West Panel Repairs & Winton Electrical Class 3 Handicap
Permission was granted for A Spradau to rider Stafindale 1kg overweight.
Hot Wired reared at the start losing considerable ground. Trainer T Snelling was advised that a warning was placed on the gelding.
Graseta Star jumped away awkwardly.
Race 2: Gregory Bulk Fuel Supplies & Wesfarmers Landmark Maiden Plate
Contention was slow to begin.
Rider of Get ‘Em, K Ballard reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out throughout the event.
Race 3: Grants Livestock Transport & BA & CJ Ballard QTIS Class 1 Handicap
Jockey O Galea was charged with careless riding, in that near the 1000m he allowed his mount Faulty Fuse to shift in taking Astronito in on to Bush Hero which was taken in across the rightful running of Stachek which had to be severely checked. Big Artie which was following was also hampered. At the request of O Galea the inquiry was adjourned until Saturday 4th October 2003.
Approaching the 600m She’s A Princess had to be steadied when tightened for room between Big Artie and King of the Realm both of which shifted ground slightly.
Race 4: PJ & CR Fuel Supplies & Primac Elders Weight For Age
On returning to scale apprentice C Browne made a application that his mount Proud Mark was denied a fair start. A viewing the Stewards film, the Stewards were of the opinion that Proud Marks’ gate was marginally slow to open, however didn’t materially prejudiced its chances, therefore declared a starter.
Race 5: Roadtrains of Australia & Winton Newsagency Class 5 Handicap
Khisdar(NZ) and England bumped on jumping.
