SOUTH BURNETT RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT.19.10.02

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - SAND


RACE 1: TINGOORA MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M

SERENDIPITY LASS was slow to begin.

STORM MELDOY blundered at the start.

WAYNE’S SHOT was inclined to hang out in the early and middle stages hampering KID’S PLAY.

RACE 2: HIVESVILLE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M

DEVIL’S CLAW was declared a late scratching at 1.43pm when that horse failed to arrive on course in time. At a further inquiry trainer J. Judge stated that due to a transport breakdown he was unable to be on course by the required time. Stewards accepted Mr. Judge’s explanation.

On returning to scale OSHAWA was found to be lame in the near foreleg. The clubs veterinary surgeon reported that gelding to be slightly lame in the left foreleg. Trainer G. McCann was advised a vet certificate would be required prior to that geldings next start.

On jumping away, FLASH FRED jumped in making heavy contact with SMARTINGLY causing that horse to lose ground.

JEST GREAT was inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages making contact with COUNTY SPIRIT on three occasions.

RACE 3: PROSTON QTIS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M

J. Warrington was replaced by P. Gesler as the rider of BLUE MATRIX when that rider failed to arrive on course. At a further inquiry, J. Judge the trainer of BLUE MATRIX stated that he was informed rider J. Warrington was unable to take the ride, but due to circumstances was unable to advise stewards earlier. Stewards noted Mr. Judge’s explanation and no further action was taken.

RESERVE RAIDER began awkwardly making contact with HATTA’S ROSE.

MY BELLADONNA hung out approaching the 600 metres taking LITTLE RUMBO wider on the track. Trainer I. Dowden was advised a warning would be placed on that fillies racing manners.

D. Gill, rider of RESERVE RAIDER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that she permitted her mount to shift in near the 1000 metres when not clear of SANDTILLEY which was taken in onto RAVENOUS MAKTIG SI which had to be checked and shifted in making contact with the hind quarters of CRAIGLEA WAY. D. Gill was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings to commence at midnight 20/10/02 and to expire at midnight 30/10/02. Stewards took into account D. Gill’s good riding record.

RACE 4: DURONG CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1100M

On return to scale SHAPESHIFTER was found to be lame in the right foreleg. The clubs veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had shifted the right foreleg plate with several small cuts to the right fore foot. Trainer J. Blinco was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to that horses next start.

NEIGH HIGH jumped in at the start making heavy contact with SHAPESHIFTER which was taken in hampering SHOW START.

Approaching the 1000 metres, NEIGH HIGH which was taken in by OUR BUDDY BOY who shifted in momentarily, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SHOW STAR.

SHOW STAR hung out approaching the 600 metres losing ground. Trainer R. Hartwig was advised a warning would be placed on that mares racing manners.

RACE 5: WONDAI CUP H’CAP – 1600M

TELESIO was slow to begin.

Both KWILA STAR and SKINNER’S REVENGE began awkwardly making contact at the start.

RACE 6: MONDUE CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1465M

PALACE EDITION reared at the start losing ground.

Approaching the 600 metres STARLINE TALENT faltered and fell dislodging apprentice C. Browne. PALACE EDITION which was following STARLINE TALENT, was hampered and had to shift out wide to avoid that horse. SHADEAL PRINCE which was unable to avoid STARLINE TALENT was severely hampered losing considerable ground.

The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that STARLINE TALENT suffered a broken pelvis and was euthanased on humane grounds.
