ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB - YEPPOON STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 04/01/2003


STEWARD’s PANEL: Mr G Wust (Chairman), Mr C Waller

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good

GENERAL –
The starting time of race 1 was delayed by 15 minutes which allowed stewards to source scales that were of a satisfactory standard prior to weigh out.

RACE 1: EMU PARK MEAT,SMALLGOODS & SEAFOOD EMPORIUM CLASS 1 HCP - 900 METERS (7 STARTERS)

Shortly after the start KABALENA CROWN (J Piper) lost ground sharply and attempted to dislodge his rider. On return to scale Jockey J Piper indicated that his saddle had slipped at this stage which had caused KABALENA CROWN to react in this manner. I LOVE MONEY (L.Timson) shifted outwards sharply on entering the course proper which resulted in RANTIGGER (C Beets) having to ease momentarily.
A post race veterinary inspection of KABALENA CROWN revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 2: EMU PARK PHARMACY MAIDEN HCP - 1000 METRES (12 STARTERS)

BAYE’S REEF (T Matheson) was withdrawn at the barrier acting on vet advice after she sustained an injury to her near hind exiting the saddling enclosure.
SAM THE MAN (M Evans) and SHEBEAT (D Whitmore) came together at the start. CECIL BEE ( M Unwin) raced greenly at a approx the 700 mtr point. SAM THE MAN shifted outwards and raced wide from the 800 mtrs till entering the home straight. SAM THE MAN laid inwards between the 300 and 200 mtrs.
Prior to declaration of correct weight Stewards announced the deductions of 5 cents in the win and 6 cents in the place off the face value of the ticket on all bets prior to the withdrawal of BAYE’S REEF and that all monies wagered on BAYE’S REEF to be refunded.

RACE 3: XXXX SPECIAL CONDITIONS H'CAP - 1100 METRES (7 STARTERS)

LOREMASTER (G Booth) and JUST KEN (D Whitmore) made contact at the jump. Approaching the 700 mtr point HAS IT ALL ( B Dieckmann) commenced to over race and when B Dieckmann attempted to ease the gelding he through his head in the air and shifted ground sharply which resulted in JUST Ken having to be checked. HUZZA (J Gallacher) shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages. Prior to correct weight Jockey J Stephens rider of second placed WESTERN PLEASURE viewed the patrol film of the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 4: PINE BEACH HOTEL/MOTEL CLASS 2 H'CAP-1200 METRES (10 STARTERS)

TAMBO ROAD ( D Simmons) was slow into stride.
Apprentice T Matheson was reprimanded by stewards for taking insufficient action to prevent CROSSBLETCH from shifting outwards when riding under the whip which resulted in TAMBO ROAD having to check at approx the 300 mtr point.


RACE 5: EMU PARK REAL ESTATE CLASS 4 H’CAP - 1400 METRES (11 STARTERS)

Stewards removed the tongue tie from FRISKY BUSINESS prior to the race start as a result of the mare refusing to be led to the barriers with the tie in place.
FRISKY BUSINESS ( B Dieckmann) was slow into stride. DANIEL SAN ( J Stephens) and WOBBLY BOOT ( D Simmons) made contact on jumping. Approaching the 700 mtrs Awsome Lad ( M Unwin) rolled inwards and made contact with STAR OF CLANG ( M Lehmann) which resulted in STAR OF CLANG striking the running rail. MY OLD CONSULTANT (G Booth) hung outwards at the 800 mtrs which resulted in him making contact with AUSSIE’S MATE (D Whitmore).

SWABBING
Routine samples were taken from all winners and forwarded to the racing science centre for analysis.
