STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY, 5th APRIL 2003

STEWARDS PANEL: P Cooper (Chairman), D Macklyn.

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Dead

RACE 1: CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000 METRES (9 STARTERS)
As the start was effected MY ISABELLE (M Unwin) jumped away awkwardly.
SPEAR JET (G Booth) was disappointed for a run from the 250 metre mark to approximately the 150 metre mark.
Trainer M Ironmonger was fined the sum of $50 under the terms of LR70(1) for failing to declare a rider for SPEAR JET for the prescribed time.
Stewards permitted Apprentice Darryl Johnston to maintain the ride on CANADIAN MAPLE 1kg overweight as there was no other suitable rider available. Subsequently Apprentice Johnston was fined the sum of $100 under the terms of AR120(B) for accepting a ride and being unable to make the allotted weight.
Jockey M Goodwin the rider of C’ON DARBY was fined the sum of $100 under the terms of AR120(B) in that he failed to make the allotted weight.

RACE 2: SPECIAL CONDITIONS H'CAP – 1200 METRES (7 STARTERS)
No incidents in running.

RACE 3: CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1300 METRES (8 STARTERS)
Apprentice Darryl Johnston was permitted to EEM CEE GEE 1kg overweight, as there was no other suitable rider available. Subsequently Apprentice Johnston was fined the sum of $100 under the terms of AR120(B) for being overweight.
At approximately the 700 metre mark ANOTHER BARNEY (App H Watanabe) improved onto the heels of WALK THE LINE, which resulted in WALK THE LINE shifting outwards abruptly and hampering RUSTY REGAL (C Beets).
At approximately the 350 metre mark ZENATIUS (MJ Stephens) shifted outwards and caused a minor inconvenience to MISTY RIVER (G Evans). Stewards advised Jockey Stephens to show more care in the future.

RACE 4: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1400 METRES (7 STARTERS)
Trainer Kerry Lynch was fined the sum of $50 under the terms of LR70(1) for failing to declare a rider for SHEPPY’S LOVER by the prescribed time.
No incidents in running.

RACE 5: OPEN H'CAP – 1400 METRES (8 STARTERS)
As Apprentice Darryl Johnston was to be overweight Stewards permitted Apprentice H Watanabe to the replacement rider for MY KING. Apprentice Darryl Johnston was subsequently fined the sum of $100 for breaching AR120(B).
CITICHARM (G Booth) over-raced at approximately the 600 metre mark and had to be restrained.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
