Lost ground on jumping when crowded for room between PEACOCK and SADLER’S LAKE, which had been carried outwards slightly by MASTER ZEPHYR and COOL CHAP.

Apprentice J. Murphy was asked for an explanation regarding his riding of GOLD SYMPHONY, which led by a considerable distance in the middle stages. Apprentice Murphy explained that his instructions were to lead and allow the horse to stride along. He added that in hindsight he may have been better served to attempt to restrain the gelding more than he did in the middle stages. He added that soon after straightening GOLD SYMPHONY was not responding to his riding and weakened badly in the home straight. Tnr confirmed instructions, however, felt he may have let the horse stride along too much.
