Form Analysis: Albion Park Aug 17

RACE ONE

KINETIC KATE (9) started from inside the 2nd line last start and was soon buried in the run and hoping for miracles. Finding the line nicely when some space arrived it was a tidy effort. Placed at her previous 3 when closing out hard in each, she can get a nice run in transit and arrive for the prize.

IDEAL BLISS (11) has placed in 2 of her 3 starts since arriving in Qld, the latest a tidy effort when 5m from the winner VASARI after doing some early work to get across from gate 5. Only beaten a pimple here 2 starts back in a similar mares qualifier, the gate makes it tough, but she can still challenge.

WRITE ABOUT LEXY (8) was a mid-week winner here last week when making the most of gate 3 to take them all the way. From this gate she will need some luck in transit but will be ready to strike.

SLIPPERY JADE (2) didn’t have any luck last start and never got a decent crack at them when down the line. Closer than the result suggests 2 runs back, with good early speed she can fire early shots.

SELECTIONS: KINETIC KATE (9), IDEAL BLISS (11), WRITE ABOUT LEXY (8), SLIPPERY JADE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: KINETIC KATE (9) to win

RACE TWO

ONE HELL OF A RIDE (9) started from gate 12 last week and with an electric early speed was saved for a closing shot. Wide off the track and sprinting hard, he attacked the line hard to be 7m from the winner TULHURST ACE. A smart winner 2 starts back when wide and chasing, the smaller field suits.

THE BUS (6) claimed a qualifier here last start when pressing on from gate 3 to take up the lamp lighting duties over the 2138m. Keeping an even tempo throughout he had too much in store to arrive for a tidy win. Game in the breeze behind TENNYSON BROMAC 2 starts back, he is can feature.

GOTTA GOOD REASON (3) started from gate 1 last start and was crossed early over the mile. From the trail he couldn’t reel in the leader to go under a half-neck. Hustling early, he can look to dictate.

WHISKEY BLAZE (5) was better than the result suggests last start when only 5m from TENNYSON BROMAC after not seeing the cleanest passage. With even luck in transit look for him swooping.

SELECTIONS: ONE HELL OF A RIDE (9), THE BUS (6), GOTTA GOOD REASON (3), WHISKEY BLAZE (5)
SUGGESTED BET: ONE HELL OF A RIDE (9) to win

RACE THREE

Early speed and position will be keenly sought in this race and if the right scenario can evolve than ROYAL STORY (8) should get the perfect trip stalking the speed and be ready to strike. Attacking the line in some smart closing sections when 2nd to ELLE YEAH from gate 11 last week, the start prior she was a half-head from SECRET JACK. Just needs the right trip to arrive in this.

IMA TOP TYCOON (1) has faced some tough gates in recent starts, landing gate 6 or wider in 9 of his past 12. He will need to be stoked up to protect the poles, but if able to muster the speed to lead, he will be tough to crack in front. Only 3m in arrears of TULHURST ACE last start, this is winnable.

MARETTI (5) found what looked to be a nice mid-week target but with a strong closing tempo from the front was facing a task. Locked on the pegs 2 back behind ARGYLE BEACH, he can be sharper.

ITS JUST KENNY (6) found conditions to suit here on Tues and despite being wide for the 1st 600m was able to drive to the front and then keep them chasing. The gate hurts but he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: ROYAL STORY (8), IMA TOP TYCOON (1), MARETTI (5), ITS JUST KENNY (6)
SUGGESTED BET: ROYAL STORY (8) to win

RACE FOUR

ELLE YEAH (6)
has been in great touch through the Winter and comes into this with a pair of wins and the narrowest of 2nd in her past 3 starts. Circling early to find the front from the 2nd line last start, she controlled it from the front. A versatile mare, she can add another win here.

SMOOTH SHOWGIRL (9) took on open company 2 starts back and from gate 4 retreated early and then was always facing a task against the tempo. Sent to the front last week from gate 3, it came at a cost of a 56 sec opening half, yet she was gripping on, beaten 2m. Back to mares only she is a threat.

ROCKING (5) secured the perfect run in transit here 2 runs back and clearing out with ELLE YEAH was able to take victory in a terrific stretch duel. She can be around the money again here.

ROCKNROLL EMMA (8) was snagged back from gate 5 to look for the short-cuts last start and despite the result showing a 9, she was only 5m from the winner SECRET JACK. Look for her probing.

SELECTIONS: ELLE YEAH (6), SMOOTH SHOWGIRL (9), ROCKING (5), ROCKNROLL EMMA (8)
SUGGESTED BET: ELLE YEAH (6) to win

RACE FIVE

An interesting contest looms here with some in-form types looking to continue their winning ways clashing with the returning NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (10) who will be out for redemption. After some big runs that unfortunately didn’t generate a return through the Carnival, if near his best he can bounce back with venom.

LEOS BEST (9) made the most of conditions here 3 starts back when capitalising on a good gate to take the front and keep them chasing all the way. Luckless at his next start from gate 7, he was probing for gaps last time when only 4m in arrears. He can throw down a challenge here.

MATTGREGOR (3) will be further tightened from his latest assignment when 2nd up from a spell. Taking the front from gate 6, he was only nabbed o the line over the mile. He will give this a shake.

SECRET JACK (8) completed a hat-trick last start when finishing over the top from the 2nd line to claim a narrow victory. He will need his share of luck from this alley, but can swoop when the gaps arrive.

SELECTIONS: NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (10), LEOS BEST (9), MATTGREGOR (3), SECRET JACK (8)
SUGGESTED BET: NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (10) to win

RACE SIX

OFFTHETOPOFMYHEAD (1) made the most of a solid tempo in front last start and after watching the speed unfold from after retreating from gate 7 to swoop hard and claim a comfortable 10m victory. The run 2 back was full of merit from gate 10. Fitter after 2 runs back from a freshen, he has the options and gets his chance.

STOMPEM (2) released the front over the 2138m after some mid-race pressure last start and then taking his shot via the passing lane went within a half-neck of THE BUS. Snagged back from gate 7 over the middle-distance 2 back, he was too far back. Settling handy he can be in the mix again.

VASARI (6) made the most of an easier assignment to claim a Redcliffe victory 3 starts back and followed that with silver behind THATSWHATISAID. Arriving strongly last start, he can feature here.

THE ANNOUNCER (7) finally landed a gate last start after a string of tough gates and then made an error soon after. It was a great run under the circumstances when beaten 5m. Just needs some luck.

SELECTIONS: OFFTHETOPOFMYHEAD (1), STOMPEM (2), VASARI (6), THE ANNOUNCER (7)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SEVEN

A RAINBOW DELIGHT (3) has been kept fresh since her NSW campaign targeting the Breeders Challenge Series. Finding the pocket trail in the Semis of that series, she packed too many guns in scoring a 5m victory. 2nd to PELOSI in the Final, she has been sharpened with a nice trial and can close her season in style.

GOOD AS IT GETS (5) settled in the 1x1 here 2 starts back when hitting the line in good style behind MISTERY ROAD. Snagged back from gate 6 here last tie out, he hit the line in some smart closing panels. Early position will be key to his chances here, but he can attack them late.

MY UTLIMATE STAR (4) has won both times he has taken on 2YO company here in Qld, the latest a tough effort from the breeze in strong time. Taking on older horses at his past 2, including a sharp win at Redcliffe, he will be right in the fight.

VENUS JUJON (1) has been in the money at all 3 runs here at The Creek, the latest when 3rd to EXPENSIVE EGO. A passing lane 2nd here 2 runs back, she will get a cosy trip and can chime in.

SELECTIONS: A RAINBOW DELIGHT (3), GOOD AS IT GETS (5), MY UTLIMATE STAR (4), VENUS JUJON (1)
SUGGESTED BET: A RAINBOW DELIGHT (3) to win

RACE EIGHT

BEE GEES BANDIT (1) has been going well without much luck on his side since returning from a freshen. Caught wide in the early part last start he pressed ahead to the breeze and only faded late behind THE BUS. Strong when 5m from THATSWHATISAID 2 runs back, his gate speed is the query.

OUR LITTLE DIGGER (4) shoots for the hat-trick after successive wins at the 2138m and then the mile last time. Finding the pegs before releasing last start, he sprinted hard when the passing lane arrived to cruise home to a 5m victory. With slick early moves at his disposal, he can challenge.

LONG HOT SUMMER (3) can be forgiven for his latest start when striking trouble and losing all chance. The start prior he was 1m from OUR LITTLE DIGGER and pressing ahead from the gate will be in the fight.

LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (5) didn’t have the cleanest of runs last start when down the line behind THE BUS. Luckless in both prior starts, if he can get the right run in transit he won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: BEE GEES BANDIT (1), OUR LITTLE DIGGER (4), LONG HOT SUMMER (3), LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-5

RACE NINE

MAJOR CAM (6) will only take further benefit from his latest start when 3rd up from an extended period on the sidelines. A real eye-catcher when resuming in some smart closing panels, he franked that with a stylish 2nd up win. Charging home late and beaten a flared nostril last start, he can cash-in again here.

BEAVER (1) wasn’t suited from the 2nd line last start when following them home and finishing 11m in arrears. Fading after a torrid trip here 2 runs back in an electric mile, he will appreciate the good gate and if able to pinch a panel in front, will give them plenty to chase.

SAMS THE MASTER (4) will take further benefit from his latest start when 2nd up in Qld and since returning from a spell. He found the line nicely last start when 4m away and can chime in late.

ARGYLE BEACH (5) will shoot for a hat-trick and it would be a fitting victory if this does happen to be her last career start before retiring to the breeding barn. Too sharp up the passing lane at her past 2, gate 5 makes it tricky but look for her swooping.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR CAM (6), BEAVER (1), SAMS THE MASTER (4), ARGYLE BEACH (5)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR CAM (6) to win

RACE TEN

It might only be a 6-horse trot to close the night, but the small field makes it an intriguing contest with every horse capable of winning. That said, leaning to MAYBETOTHEMAX (3) to make it back-to-back wins after scoring in nice style in a weaker mid-week event off 40m, sprinting sharply in some sizzling closing splits. Fitter for the run, he looks well-placed off 10m to take this.

JUSTABITNOISY (4) claimed the Trotters Marathon over the long 3157m here 4 starts back and since that win hasn’t been too far away. Finding the pocket trail last start, he had to evade a scrimmage when 6m from the winner EMPIRE BAY. Meeting him 10m better off here, he will be in the fight.

OUR OVERANOVA (6) was saved for a closing shot off this mark last start and hit the line in nice order when 2m from the winner EMPIRE BAY. A smart winner when sent forward from 40m here 2 runs back, he is never far from the action over this trip.

SELECTIONS: MAYBETOTHEMAX (3), JUSTABITNOISY (4), OUR OVERANOVA (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MAYBETOTHEMAX (3) to win
