Coominya trainer Ricky Rolls can’t bring himself to retire veteran greyhound ASTIN’S WARRIOR even though the four-year-old will line up for his 103rd race start at Ipswich Greyhounds this afternoon.
ASTIN’S WARRIOR will jump from box 4 in the City Country Food Service 5 th Grade final (431m) at 5.09pm.
“I can’t retire him when he’s racing so well,” Ricky said.
“I think he’s going better than he ever has and he’s still enjoying racing... It won’t be easy from box 4. He’ll have to hit the ground running to stay out of trouble but he got out like he’d been shot out of the box on Tuesday, when he ran second.”
ASTIN’S WARRIOR turned four this week (whelped on May 1, 2014). He was bred from Ricky’s well-performed SHEZ SO FAST (13 wins).
Gary Mitchell’s GITCHA ALLEY (1) will be the dog to beat in the final on the back of two wins in a row over this distance at Ipswich.
