Race 1: PAGODA RESTAURANT MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
VICTORMATIC – Slowly away. Restrained off heels passing the 800m. Stewards patrol footage of the start revealed the gates on Barrier 3 were marginally slow to open. Although Stewards were of the opinion this had not had a material bearing on the gelding’s finishing position, they nonetheless reminded Jockey M Abe of his obligation to report such matters to Stewards immediately on returning to scale. As a precautionary measure Stewards directed Starter Mr. R Gardner that Barrier 3 not be used for the remainder of the race meeting.
ROTHESAY MAGIC – Slowly away. Raced 3 wide for the majority.
LAPELS – Began awkwardly after slipping on jumping. Was inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Trainer Mr. P Rowe advised Stewards the gelding had come to the end of its preparation and would be turned out for an immediate spell.
Race 2: THE CANNON FAMILY CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m
NORTHERN REVENGE – Marginally slowly away and then hampered by another runner which shifted in soon after jumping.
FAST SUN – Shifted in and hampered another runner soon after jumping. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Was inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
YANKEE ROLLER – Raced wide for the majority.
NICK’S NIGHT OUT - Raced wide for the majority.
Race 3: TOTAL EDEN OPEN HANDICAP 1000m
I WANNA BREAK FREE – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post inconveniencing another runner. Jockey M Abe was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a). Raced wide for the majority and was taken wider by another
BON TEMPS – Shifted in near the 800m hampering another runner. App. Ms. A Thomson was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a). Raced wide for the majority and was taken wider by another runner which hung out soon after straightening.
FIVE STARS – Was hampered near the 800m by another runner which shifted in.
GREEN ANCHOR – Raced wide for the majority. Hung out on straightening taking another runner wider.
FASTCAR – Was inconvenienced approaching the winning post by another runner which shifted out under pressure.
Race 4: THE SPRING BEAN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m
CASHED UP BULLY – Over-raced for some distance passing the 1100m. Was inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
FEMALE OFFICER – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
THE BEE’S KNEES – Performed below market expectations. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed traces of blood in the mare’s right nostril. Stewards acting under the provisions of AR53A(7) advised Trainer Mr. S Cooper that THE BEE’S KNEES would be required to satisfactorily gallop 1000m before being permitted to race again.
Race 5: BJS PLUMBING & CIVIL CONTRACTING CLASS 3 PLATE 1400m
VIVE LAS VEGAS – Was slowly away.
POWER OF DIVAS – Raced keenly passing the 1200m. Had to be restrained off heels near the 800m. Shifted in soon after straightening and inconvenienced another runner. Jockey M Abe was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a).
CONTEMPLATE – Had to be restrained soon after straightening when another runner shifted in.
