Race 1: COLE DIESEL BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1050 metres
 
 
NIEWAND – Blundered on jumping
 
KILLERMAN'S RUN – Soon after straightening bumped on the hindquarters by INTIMIDATING which shifted out to improve.
 
ARCHER'S TREASURE – Slow to begin.
 
MORT DOYLE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider reported inclined to lay out for majority of the event. Trainer L Abbott was of the opinion the gelding is better suited to surfaces with more give in them. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities
 
SKINS – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
INTIMIDATING – Soon after straightening shifted out to improve and bumped KILLERMAN’S RUN on the hind quarters.
 
 
 
Race 2: BORE HEAD 3YO Quality Handicap 1350 metres
 
 
MASS DESTRUCTION – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
POUPEE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Rider J Byrne reported the filly was inclined to lay out throughout the event. A post-race Veterinary examination of POUPEE revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
 
Race 3: MADISON CLEANING SERVICES Class 3 Handicap 1350 metres
 
 
GREAT KEPPELL – Co-trainers T & T Edmonds were reprimanded under LR36(6) for failing to scratch the horse as a dual acceptor by the prescribed time.
 
 MANTELLI – Bumped at the start.
 
WOWSERS – Rider R Wiggins was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
LUBUK – From the wide barrier restrained on jumping and shifted behind runners to obtain a rearward position closer to the rail.
 
MONTEZ – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MANTELLI. Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home-turn. Rider R Fradd reported after being held up at the entrance to the home-turn, MONTEZ did not finish the race off as expected adding that in his opinion the gelding is better suited coming to the outside of runners when making its run. A post-race Veterinary examination of MONTEZ revealed no abnormalities.
 
MUSIC AWARD – Over-raced in the early and middle staged of the event. Lost near hind plate in running.
 
SYNCLINE – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home-turn.
 
ALPENDURADA – Held up for clear running rounding the home-turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
COCO FASHION – Leaving the 300 metres eased from the heels of MONTEZ when disappointed for a run, then a short distance later obliged to alter course to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 4: SPECIALISED PLAN MANAGEMENT BM 80 Handicap 2200 metres
 
 
FASTNET CYCLONE – Caught three wide in the early stages of the event before progressing forward to race outside of the leader near the 1400 metres.
 
MORENDI – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Held up rounding the home-turn.
 
ALPINE DANCER – Slow to begin. Rider M McGillivray was reprimanded for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
HE RUNS AWAY - Over-raced in the early stages of the event.
 
KIMPEMBE – Shifted wider on the track leaving the 600 metres.
 
PARTNERSHIP– Taken wider on the track from the 600 metres when KIMPEMBE shifted out to improve.
 
POWERS LOOKOUT – Left a rearward trailing position at the 1200 metres and raced three wide before obtaining the position outside the leader leaving the 1000 metres. When asked to comment on tactics adopted rider B Ainsworth stated the geldings usual pattern is to race in a forward position and after being slow to begin she elected to progress forward when the pace steadied in the back straight. In acknowledging tactics adopted, Stewards advised Ms Ainsworth that after obtaining the position outside of FIELDS OF YULONG, she had the opportunity to steady the pace, and so allow POWERS LOOKOUT to finish the race off better than it did on this occasion. Stewards were of the opinion that the actions of Ms Ainsworth were not culpable to the requisite standard to take the matter further but did advise her ride in such a manner as to not leave herself open to query.
 
 
 
Race 5: HARCOURTS ASCOT REAL ESTATE F&M Class 6 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
GOODONYA SONJA – When asked to comment on the performance, trainer L Gough stated at its most recent start GOODONYA SONJA may have jarred up on the firmer racing surface adding that today the horse was back in a mares class event and was able to settle closer in the run which suited its racing pattern. Stewards noted the explanation of L Gough. A post-race blood and urine sample was taken from GOODONYA SONJA.
 
MOLLY'S ROCKING – Declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 2:27pm when the mare reared in the saddling enclosure, dislodging rider A Mallyon who was injured in the incident. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on MOLLY’S ROCKING be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st GOODONYA SONJA – 12 cents win, 18 cents place
2nd OH FIVE GLORY -                               9 cents place
3rd EXPLOSIVE QUALITY -                      12 cents place
 
Rider A Mallyon was advised he would require a medical clearance before resuming race riding.
 
AIR SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Rider B Thompson reported at scale he was disappointed with the finishing effort of the mare in the home straight. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 6: CLEAR TO WORK - ST RITA'S COLLEGE CUP BM 75 Handicap 1600 metres
 
 
CANAPES – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
PROSPECTUS – Change of tactics. From the wide gate to be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Shifted wider on the track leaving 600 metres.
 
TRUSTY LAD – Slow to begin. Restrained from the heels of DON’T STOP near the 600 metres. Held up over the concluding stages. Rider L Cassidy reported TRUSTY LAD is better suited on tracks with more give in than that of todays surface.

BLACKLOG – Taken wider on the track leaving 600 metres.
 
DON'T STOP – Bumped at the start.
 
NIC NAT NUI – Bumped its head in the tie up stall prior to the event, examined by Veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: LIQUOR LEGENDS OPEN Handicap 1600 metres
 
 
GLENALL – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running over the final 100 metres.
 
KAONIC – Slow to begin.
 
ARTICUS – Over-raced near the 800 metres and had to be steadied from heels. Taken wider rounding the home-turn.
 
TESTASHADOW – Raced three wide until obtaining cover near the 900 metres.
 
PLITVICE - Rider B Thompson was reprimanded for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
 
 
Race 8: TAB CREATE YOUR SPRING CALENDAR OF PLAY NMW Handicap 1350 metres
 
 
TARBERT – Slow to begin.
 
FABULONH – Steadied from heels near the 800 metres. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
JACKPOT JAY – Approaching the 800 metres steadied from the heels of ROYAL HALE which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice G Cartwright, rider of ROYAL HALE was advised to exercise greater care.
 
ROYAL HALE – Rounding the home-turn Apprentice G Cartwright’s helmet was struck by a bird.  
 
DASHING SPECIAL – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
GREAT KEPPELL – Co-trainers T & T Edmonds were fined $100 for late rider declaration for the gelding.
 
NATURAL FORCE – Slow to begin. Retired from the event passing the 200 metres after suffering a bleeding attack. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils for the first occasion. Trainer G Doughty was advised of the provisions under AR79(4)(b). Trainer G Doughty advised NATURAL FORCE will now be retired from racing.
 
 
 
 
Race 9: LEXUS C,G&E Class 6 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
AWESOME PLUCK – Slow to begin.
 
STAMPE – Approaching the 400 metres when shifting out to improve was awkwardly placed at heels of METSON. Taken wider on the track over the final 200 metres when METSON laid out under pressure.
 
ONE STRYKE – Declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 3:41pm when trainer L Abbott was of the opinion the gelding would not be suited on the prevailing track surface.
 
DREAM MASTER – Slow to begin. Rider M Cahill reported after being slow to begin he was obliged to pressure the gelding to hold a forward position, and in his opinion this took a toll on DREAM MASTER’S finishing effort over the concluding stages.
 
FASANO – Shifted wider rounding the home-turn. Taken wider on the track over the final 200 metres when METSON laid out under pressure.
 
METSON – Rider T Marshall reported the gelding hung out for the majority of the event. Shifted out under pressure over the final 200 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination of METSON revealed lacerations to both hocks.
