As M. Wishart was not riding due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1500M
 
TREASURE OF GOLD – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in whilst tiring in the straight. Trainer M. Nolan’s representative advised that the horse would now be sent for a spell.
 
IGOR – Inclined to lay inwards in the straight.
 
DACXI DELIVERS – Slow into stride after being bumped by TREASURE OF GOLD. Beaten a considerable distance. Trainer W. Melvin was advised that the gelding would be ineligible to compete at metropolitan meetings until it establishes satisfactory provincial form. Mr Melvin indicated that the horse would be sent for a spell.
 
Race 2: KIRIN BENCHMARK 90 H'CAP – 2200M
 
MAWAANY MACHINE – Bumped with HUMBOLT CURRENT on jumping.
 
SIR BARNABUS – Dipped on jumping.
 
HUMBOLT CURRENT – Bumped with MAWAANY MACHINE on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
PARTNERSHIP – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 3: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1600M
 
MANGIONE – L. Dittman was reminded of his obligation regarding use of the whip above shoulder height.
 
STUTTERING – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
TWILIGHTER – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Race 4: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1000M
 
Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 for failing to declare T. Marshall as the rider of POUPEE by the prescribed time.
 
MISS LOT WON – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost its position. Laid outwards in the straight. R. Maloney reported that in his opinion the filly felt uncomfortable in its action and as a result he desisted from pressuring it over the final 50m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
REAL FINE WINE – Began awkwardly.
 
CLAIRVUE STAR – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. Bumped on jumping. When attempting to find clear running near the 150m, raced greenly for a short distance when placed under pressure.
 
AZZAREACH – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced greenly at the top of the straight when placed under pressure.
 
BROADWATER – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Laid in under pressure and when approaching the 300m shifted in, making contact with the rail, proving difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
POUPEE – Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
Race 5: NATIONAL JOCKEYS CELEBRATION DAY C,G&E NO METRO WINS H'CAP – 1200M
 
AGGRAVATE – Shifted outwards abruptly near the 200m.
 
BUGALUGS – Allowed to stride forward to take the lead near the 800m after being caught three wide in the early stages.
 
CHEVY NOVA – Steadied near the 600m after racing up on the heels of ARTHUR IN CHARGE.
 
ARTHUR IN CHARGE – Overraced in the middle stages. Unable to secure clear running between the 400m and the 250m and near the 200m had to be taken inwards to obtain further clear running.
 
CHICO MILAGRO – Commenced to race keenly near the 900m after being steadied off the heels of BOBBY AXELROD. Apprentice C. Bayliss, the rider of BOBBY AXELROD, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Inclined to lay in in the straight.
 
Race 6: MOUNT FRANKLIN CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M
 
SLOW HANDS – Raced three wide from the 800m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m.
 
DYNAMIC DUO – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and near the 700m lost ground after making contact with SLOW HANDS.
 
PHANTOM FALCON – Laid outwards under pressure in the straight.
 
SMOOTH MOVE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
BUCKLE UP BABY – Slow to begin.
 
EURO BELLE – Got its head up when being steadied shortly after the start. Laid outwards over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had sustained small lacerations to the nearside hock.
 
Race 7: BRC MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL F&M NO METRO WINS H'CAP – 1200M
 
WINNING SHOT – Raced three wide without cover.
 
FLYING MACHINE – Slow to begin.
 
SOCIALISING – Slow to begin. Momentarily steadied outwards near the 300m away from the heels of WINNING SHOT, which rolled out.
 
BUBBLES BALL – Made contact with WOMAN OF GOLD near the 350m and shortly after again made contact with that runner as a result of being carried outwards by MORNAY, which shifted out and away from ABB ROY.
 
KEDAH – Bucked shortly after the start and near the 1100m the saddle shifted forward, placing it at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race and taking no competitive part. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K. Lees was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
AMORITA – Slow to begin. Taken outwards in an attempt to obtain clear running approaching the 200m and thereafter proved difficult to ride when inclined to lay inwards.
 
WOMAN OF GOLD – Made contact with BUBBLES BALL near the 350m and shortly after again made contact with that runner as a result of BUBBLES BALL being carried outwards by MORNAY, which shifted out and away from ABB ROY.
 
MORNAY – Raced three wide with cover.
 
ABB ROY – Raced three wide with cover.
 
Race 8: XXXX DRY OPEN H'CAP – 1400M
 
RIGHT OR WRONG – Held up in the early part of the straight.
 
SMARTEDGE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
OBSERVATIONAL – Resuming after a lengthy spell, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to race.
 
SKATE TO PARIS – Eased near the 1000m when racing tight to the inside of MR BELLAGIO.
 
RED DOULTON – Raced tight shortly after the start to the inside of RIGHT OR WRONG.
 
Race 9: ASCOT GREEN BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1800M
 
GLEN ORD – Raced three wide with cover.
 
LORD GODODDIN – Held up from making the turn into the straight until the 250m.
 
FAST TRAIN – D. Smith, who was dislodged whilst proceeding the barriers, remounted, and upon arrival at the barriers was examined by QAS officers and passed fit to fulfil his engagement. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
MOMENTUM TO WIN – Raced three wide without cover.
 
JOYMAKER – Slow to begin.
 
HALLOWED GIRL – Slow to begin.
