Race 1 – Dewalt Maiden Handicap – 1800m
 
Kolstar – Began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly almost dislodging its rider and as a result lost ground. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Itsallkay  - Tightened for room shortly after the start. Overraced in the early stages. Near the 1300m when overracing had to be restrained from the heels of Retairius and was obliged to shift wider on the track and as a consequence was allowed to improve forward to assume the lead near the 1000m.
 
The Last Road – Near the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of Itsallkay, which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey R. Plumb (Itsallkay) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
Retairius – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Odin’s Folly – Near the 300m improved on to the heels of the weakening Itsallkay, shifted out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Retairius.
 
 
Race 2 - Milwaukee Tools Australia Maiden Plate – 1300m
 
As R. Wiggins was not riding at the meeting Stewards permitted A. Fancourt to be substituted as the rider of In Two Minds.
Duvessa – Became fractious in the barriers as the start was effected and lost ground. Near the 800m had to be restrained from the heels of Raging Royal.
 
Phoenix Shadow – Raced three wide in the early stages before improving forward to the lead near the 900m.

Jockey A. Fancourt (In Two Minds) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration her good record in regards to this Rule.
 
 
Race 3 – Total Tools Burleigh Waters Every Tool, Every Trade C, G & E Class 1 Handicap – 1100m
 
The start was delayed due to another intrastate event.
 
Ruler – Slow to begin and then shifted out and bumped Kamilaroi. Held up in the early stages of the home straight and was obliged to alter course to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
Kamilaroi – Bumped at the start. Approaching the 900m commenced to race ungenerously and threw its head in the air on a number of occasions.
 
Pocket Pistol – Raced wide for the majority. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance jockey P. Hammersley stated that the gelding was not entirely comfortable in its action in the track conditions and after pressuring his mount from the 600m it failed to respond to his riding and once entering the home straight when out of contention he desisted from pressuring his mount for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative undertook to report to Stewards in the following days any abnormalities that may become apparent that may explain the poor performance.
 
Big Little Lies – Jockey A. Fancourt reported at scale that her mount put in an awkward stride shortly after the start and then was not entirely comfortable in its action for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Jockey T. Harrison (Boss’s Boy) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration her good record in regards to this Rule.
 
After the winning post and on pulling up Captivated shied near the crossing dislodging its rider L. Dittman. Miracle Worker which was following also shied dislodging its rider N. Fazackerley. Both riders returned to scale, weighed in correctly and stated they had escaped any injury and were able to fulfil their remaining engagements.
 
 
Race 4 – Makita Power Tools Fillies & Mares Class 1 Handicap – 1100m
 
As G. Colless was overweight Stewards permitted A. Fancourt to be substituted as the rider of Hey Doll. Jockey Colless was fined $200.
 
Lady Vixen – Slow to begin.
 
Mikuro – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which was making an abnormal respiratory noise on return to scale, confirmed the respiratory noise. The stable representative was advised that a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination will be required prior to the filly racing again.
 
Bubbles’n’troubles – Inconvenienced shortly after the start by Coupe De Ville, which was taken out by Hello Spirit, which shifted out at the start.
 
Pabulum – Overraced in the middle stages and near the 700m was inclined to lay in and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Hey Doll. Raced wide for the majority.
 
Greyt Love – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
 
Race 5 – Bostik Smart Adhesive QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1400m
 
Diarist – Began awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier partition.
 
Shamurt – Began awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier partition and was inconvenienced shortly thereafter.
 
Mystic Mist – Near the 900m had to be steadied and lost ground when placed in restricted room between Grim Reaper and Sir Husson, which shifted in. Jockey A. Spinks (Sir Husson) was issued with a reprimand. Jockey B. Ainsworth reported at scale it was not her intention to settle as far back as she did however, due to the runners drawn to her inside showing superior speed in the early stages she was obliged to restrain and obtain a position towards the rear of the field.
 
Grim Reaper – Near the 600m had to be checked when tightened for room between Mystic Mist and Diarist, which shifted out when not sufficiently clear.
 
Heza Good Boy – Near the 600m had to be checked to avoid the heels of Grim Reaper and shifted out abruptly.
 
App B. Nothdurft (Diarist) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 600m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Grim Reaper, resulting in that runner having to be checked when tightened for room which resulted in Heza Good Boy which was following having to be checked to avoid heels. App Nothdurft’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days to commence midnight 18 May 2019 and expire midnight 29 May 2019. In considering penalty Stewards determined the carelessness and interference being in the mid-range with his guilty plea and riding record.
 
Sir Husson – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
Pumps – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted App J. Hodge stated that his instructions were to lead and when complying with these instructions at a point near the 900m when racing to the outside of Takotsubo he elected to obtain the outright lead and improve forward. He added that at this point the gelding commenced to overrace, which resulted in him leading the event by a greater margin than he had intended. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
 
Race 6 – Total Tools Burleigh Waters Best Price Guaranteed Class 4 Handicap – 1200m
 
The Groom – Slow to begin.
 
Will’s Bid – Slow to begin. Held up momentarily on entering the home straight.
 
Aggravate – Slow into stride and once crossed by Bella Occhi in the early stageswas inclined to overrace and had to be restrained from heels near the 1000m, 800m and again at the 600m.
 
Bella Occhi – Near the 250m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Aggravate.
 
Doctor Zed – Near the 250m had to be checked when severely tightened for room and lost ground.
 
Jockey L. Dittman (Comic Story) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 250m he failed to make sufficient effort in preventing his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of Doctor Zed which had to be checked when tightened for room and also causing Bella Occhi to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Aggravate. Jockey Dittman’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 11 May 2019 and expire midnight 19 May 2019. In considering penalty Stewards took into consideration his good riding record.
 
 
Race 7 – Bosch Power Tools BenchMark 80 Handicap – 1800m
 
Magstock – Began awkwardly, shifted in  making contact with Bargannon and lost ground.
 
Deconstructed – Hampered when tightened for room at the start.
 
Miss Shanti – Hampered when tightened for room at the start. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance jockey P. Hammersley stated that from the 600m when asked to improve into the race the mare failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Stable representative P. Shailer could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than to note that the mare has not previously handled similar racing surfaces. Mr Shailer undertook to report to Stewards any abnormalities that may help explain today’s poor performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a routine swab sample was taken.
 
Jockey B. Ainsworth (Lota Creek Gold) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration her good record in regards to this Rule.
 
 
Race 8 – TAB Class 2 Handicap – 1400m
 
Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $100 for the late declaration of App B. Nothdurft as the rider of Fish ‘N’ Snitz.
 
Fish ‘N’ Snitz – Fractious in the barriers and then began awkwardly.
 
Follow On – Slow to begin.
 
Dramatic Moments – Slow to begin.
 
Sultry Testa – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
Rising King – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
Etikaal – Jockey M. Hellyer reported at scale that his mount was inclined to overrace in the early stages.
