Race 1: MELBOURNE CUP BOOK NOW Class 1 Handicap 900 Metres
 
METRO TRAMP – Began awkwardly.

JOYFUL MISS – Began very awkwardly and shifted out bumping WOODLEY’S GOLD on the hind quarters. Shifted out around the heels of WOODLEY’S GOLD near the 300 metres and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
WOODLEY'S GOLD – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping.  
 
Race 2: ERIC ATTWOOD MEMORIAL Maiden Plate 900 Metres
 
TAN DINH –Stewards acceded to an early request that the filly be permitted carry 1 kilogram over its allotted weight when no other suitable rider was available. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CASH ON FIRE – Due to a long absence from racing underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three wide without cover.
 
GYPSY ROZAY– Delayed the start after becoming fractious in the barrier, was unloaded and underwent a veterinary examination before being cleared to start. Restrained near the 800 metres when racing in restricted room.
 
MINT STRIP – Slow to begin. Blundered on its own accord near the 800 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FRANGLAIS – Slow to begin.

DANITES – Raced ungenerously for a short distance between the 600 metres and the 500 metres.
 
REPRESENTING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
STORMTROOPER – Raced four wide with no cover.
 
Race 3: RICHARD ATTWOOD BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 Metres
 
SMART AS ATTACK – Began awkwardly.
 
KING TOMLOLA – Laid out rounding the home turn.

MACCHINA VOLANTE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride out.

Race 4: BOB MARSHALL BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1800 Metres
 
SAME OLD – Slow to begin.

CABOCHON LIL – Slow to begin. When questioned into its performance rider T. Wolfgram stated that in his opinion the mare was not suited by the tempo of the race and when the field sprinted leaving the 500m it was left flatfooted and then worked home late in the race. He further added CABOCHON HILL may now be looking for further distance than that of today’s event.    
 
NORDIC SHOW – Slow to begin. Raced three wide in the early stages.  

CHECKMATE LAD – Raced three wide in the early stages.   
 
HOLBROOK – Commenced to lay out rounding the home turn and continued to do so when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: REVELSTONE STUD Maiden Handicap 1400 Metres
 
MA DUSHKA – Slow to begin.
 
EDIFICATION – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure near the 150 metres and when being corrected shifted out and became unbalanced. Lost it’s off fore plate during running.

EVITA LA VIE – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide without cover.  Compounded over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of mare  identified an irregular heart rhythm. EVITA LA VIE shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres.
 
RATIONS – Shifted out the start bumping EVITA LA VIE.
 
 PRIDE OF JEZEBEL – Shifted out near the 300 metres bumping THINKLIKELIGHTNING. Again shifted out near the 150 metres before being corrected.

CENTENARY STAR – Raced in restricted room near the 400 metres and was restrained. Trainer G. Heinrich reported the mare was found to be in season following the event.
 
THE HOUSEMAN – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
OLYMPIC CLASS – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 6: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS Class 4 Handicap 1200 Metres
 
RUSSIAN ROMEO – Slow to begin.
 
KANAVU – Blundered shortly after the start.
 
FORTIFICATION – Began awkwardly.
 
PAY WITH CASH – Raced fiercely in the early stages and as such was allowed to improve forward to race outside the leader leaving the 800 metres.
 
Race 7: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS OPEN Handicap 1200 Metres
 
HIGH COST – A pre-race veterinary examination of the gelding after arriving at the barriers revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching scratching at 4.21pm. All monies invested on HIGH COST were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.21PM:

 AKAGE – Slow to begin.
 
TISANI MAGIC – Slow to begin.

SEA RAIDER – Over-raced in the early stages. Was unable to obtain clear running in the home straight, shifted out near the 200 metres bumping BOLD WARRIOR and became unbalanced.   
 
BOLD WARRIOR – Bumped by SEA RAIDER which shifted out in effort to obtain clear running near the 200 metres.
 
 
 
 
Race 8: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 Metres
 
PERFECT QUALITY – Shifted when over-racing out shortly after the start bumping INFLAMMABLE which inturn shifted out bumping ENTITLEMENT. PERFEST QUALITY   continued to over-race and shifted out leaving the 1100 metres inconveniencing MISS TO FLY which shifted out inconveniencing SOMERVILLE.
 
MISS TOO FLY – Attempted to jump a shadow approaching the 1100 metres. Inconvenienced near the 1100 metres. Shifted in near the 750 metres when not fully clear of INFLAMMABLE was steadied. Rider T. Harrison was severely reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.

ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM – Following a concern from rider C. Taylor, a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SOMERVELL –Due to a long absence from racing underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Inconvenienced near the 1100 metres and then raced ungenerously when racing wide.

INFLAMMABLE –Steadied near the 750 metres when placed in restricted room.
