App J. Guthmann-Chester was fined $200 under the provisions of AR228(d) for posting material on a social media platform, which was in the Stewards’ opinion was obscene or defamatory towards Racing Qld Training Department.
 
General
 
As R. Maloney was delayed due to transport difficulties Stewards permitted rider replacements in Races 1 and 5 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Maloney was requested to provide evidence from a mechanic to support his reasons for failing to fulfil these riding engagements.
 
App M. Murphy was replaced by App B. Nothdurft on Shinshinto in Race 2 after App Murphy failed to arrive on course. After failed attempts to contact App Murphy, his manager and master he was replaced by App B. Nothdurft on Greywolf in Race 5. Prior to Race 5 App Murphy arrived on course and advised Stewards he had been unable to fulfil his engagement in Race 2 due to illness. Subsequently App Murphy was replaced by App B. Nothdurft on Sir Magic in Race 8. App Murphy was advised that he must provide a medical clearance prior to riding at Beaudesert on Thursday 25 April 2019.
 
 
Race 1: Channel Seven Ipswich Cup TIX On Sale QTIS 2YO Fillies Maiden – 1200m
 
Trainer M. Nolan was fined $100 for failing to produce the document of description for Gamma.
Real Sweet – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly.
 
Gamma – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.
 
Hidden Secret ­– Began awkwardly.
 
Got No Doubt –Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Cast a near fore plate in running.
 
Ruella - Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
Wishfilly – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 2: Carlton Mid QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
Shinshinto – Began awkwardly and then raced ungenerously in the early stages. Trainer D. Murphy was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.
 
Arjayar – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Rebel Rock. Jockey A. Fancourt reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions.
 
Rebel Rock – Bumped at the start.
 
Brocky – Overraced in the early stages. Jockey R. Stewart reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout.
 
Ruuca – Hung out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Leadburn Lion – Race wide without cover throughout.
 
Rothenburg ­– Jockey R. Fradd reported that whilst the colt did not appreciate today’s heavy track conditions it would be better suited over further distances.
 
 
Race 3: Sirromet Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1350m
 
A Little Crafty – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages outside the leader.  When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance trainer J. Hepworth noted that the gelding was second up from a spell today. Mr Hepworth also noted that it was the gelding’s first start on a heavy track, which he attributed to today’s performance.
 
Felzone – Bumped at the start.
 
Brahma Armour – Bumped at the start. Upon straightening was bumped by Silverbrook Lad.
 
Our Red Jet – Blundered at the start. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
Silverbrook Lad – Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start. Upon straightening had to be steadied from the heels of Felzone, shifted out and bumped Brahma Armour. Cast a near hind plate in running.
Rockuzzo – Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
Clairvue Spirit – Raced wide throughout.
 
Monsun Soldier – Near the 400m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Clairvue Spirit. Raced wide throughout.
 
Lyon’s Mane – Near the 400m bumped and became unbalanced. Upon straightening was bumped by Silverbrook Lad. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 4:  Schweppes Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1350m
 
The Last Road cast an off hind plate during the preliminary after arriving behind the barriers the farrier was unable to replace that plate or remove the near hind plate. The  mare was therefore declared a late scratching at 2.14 p.m. by order of Stewards. All  monies invested on The Last Road were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.14 p.m.:-
 
4 cents in the dollar for the win - #9 (Flying Pretty)
5 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #9 (Flying Pretty)
5 cents in the dollar for the 2nd placegetter - #12 (Takeittothelimit)
5 cents in the dollar for the 3rd placegetter - #8 (Creative Moss)
 
The start was further delayed when the bridle on Lips had to be replaced.
 
Lips – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Eased down over the final 300m. Trainer T. Pascoe indicated the filly would now be retired from his stable. Nonetheless Mr Pascoe was advised that the filly must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
Quotant – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 1100m steadied from the heels of Come Alive. Approaching the 100m was steadied from the heels of Strong Desire.
 
Takeittothelimit – Hampered at the start.
 
Creative Moss – Approaching the 1200m steadied when placed in restricted room. Upon straightening was disappointed for a run to the outside of Strong Desire and was then held up to a point near the 200m.
 
Half Moon Blue – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Approaching the 100m was bumped by Come Alive and had to be steadied.
 
Come Alive – Approaching the 100m shifted in and away from Quotant and bumped Half Moon Blue.
 
Gratuitous – Raced wide throughout.
 
Flying Pretty – Raced wide throughout.
 
Strong Desire – Race three wide without cover throughout.
 
Flight de Vegas – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg and to have cast a near fore plate. Trainer R. Davidson was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again.
 
 
Race 5: Ray White Ipswich Class 5 Plate – 1350m
 
As jockey R. Plumb was indisposed due to personal reasons Stewards permitted M. Cahill to be substituted as the rider of Fanx.
 
Fanx – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event and passing the 600m was forced wider.
 
Flying Machine – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m steadied and lost ground when tightened for room between Greywolf and Cosmos Seven, which shifted out. App J. Guthmann-Chester (Cosmos Seven) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 400m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Flying Machine. As a consequence Flying Machine had to be steadied and lost round when tightened for room between Greywolf and Cosmos Seven. App Guthmann-Chester’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 27 April 2019 and expire midnight 5 May 2019.
 
Say I Cee You – Began awkwardly. Bumped approaching the 400m and became unbalanced. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
Miss Sara – Caught wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the fence, which resulted in the filly leading the event.
 
Greywolf – Bumped approaching the 400m.
 
Beacon – Approaching the winning post was eased when tightened for room by Greywolf, which shifted in.
 
 
Race 6: CFMEU Labour Day Races 6 May Class 2 Handicap – 1620m
 
Racing Qld in consultation with the Ipswich Turf Club determined that the distance of this event be shortened to 1620m due to standing water in that chute. Public announcements were made to this effect.
 
As App J. Guthmann-Chester was overweight Stewards permitted App C. Gallagher to be substituted as the rider of Brickhall. App Guthmann-Chester was fined $200.
 
Three Stooges – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Reposition – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Tempa Mental ­– A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 7: Follow @IpswichTurfClub BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1200m
 
Trainer B. Hill was fined $200 for presenting Mystical Renegade on course with steel plates. The gelding raced in race plates. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of mitigating circumstances.
 
Mystical Renegade – Began awkwardly.
 
Will’s Bid – Began awkwardly.
 
The Real Spiel – Near the 700m steadied from the heels of Phabeni.
 
Phabeni – Lost an off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 8: Free Entry & Kids Rides 6 May BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1000m
 
Trainer D. Forster was fined $100 for the late notification of App J. Murphy as the rider of Archade.
 
Phast Lad ­– Upon arriving behind the barriers underwent a veterinary examination at the request of jockey T. Harrison and was subsequently cleared to race. Began awkwardly.
 
Smartypy – Slow to begin.
 
Archade – Near the 100m shifted in and bumped High Cost.
 
High Cost – Bumped near the 100m.
