Race 1: TAB QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 800M
 
Trainer M. Currie was fined $100 for failing to declare J. Oliver as the rider of VINCIT by the prescribed time.
 
VINCIT – Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly throughout and near the 300m shifted in of its own accord, bumping MISS LARRIKIN.
 
KATINA THE CAT – Slow to begin. Whilst racing greenly in the early stages, near the 500m shifted out to avoid the heels of MISS LARRIKIN and as a result took OLD KENT ROAD wider.
 
MISS LARRIKIN – Raced greenly in the early stages. Bumped by another runner near the 300m.
 
MISS RHAPSODY – The saddle shifted back shortly after the start.
 
EXPOSED SECRET – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
OLD KENT ROAD – Taken wider by another runner near the 500m.
 
Race 2: SEARLE FAMILY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1500M
 
Trainer K. Fogden’s stable representative was advised that a fine of $100 would be imposed for the late declaration of M. Hellyer as the rider of MULETA.
 
MULETA – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MOSS ‘N’ DIAMONDS – Severely checked and forced wider by another runner after passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
VINNY VAVOOM – Bumped by another runner on a number of occasions shortly after the start. Commenced to race keenly approaching the winning post on the first occasion and when being restrained veered out, forcing another runner wider, and took no competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer L. Gore was advised that the gelding would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again.
 
BAY NOT GREY – Began awkwardly. Rider S. Bogenhuber reported that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout, however, failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure and was very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BRIGHTER DAYS – Began awkwardly. Steadied from the heels of another runner and made the crossing awkwardly.
 
MONTE SANTO – Bumped on a number of occasions shortly after the start.
 
REG ‘N’ KATH – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. Held up rounding the home turn and entering the home straight.
 
Race 3: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1060M
 
MISS FAVULOUS – Made contact with the running rail near the 100m.
 
MOTOWN MINX – Slow to begin.
 
OUR SILKY SMOOTH – Slow to begin. Rider W. O’Connell reported that the saddle shifted to the nearside and therefore he was unable to pressure his mount, resulting in it taking no competitive part in the event.
 
DREAM ON LUCY – Hung out from the 800m and continued to do so for the remainder of the event.
 
Race 4: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1060M
 
Stewards accepted trainer B. Hull’s explanation for failing to declare B. Appo as the rider of CHARGING CLEAR and App. E. MacPherson as the rider of COMMANDEERING (Race 6) by the prescribed time.
 
SIOUXSIE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
CONCEALED DYNAMITE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LEICA FIRECRACKER – Began awkwardly. Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Laid in in the middle stages.
 
MAXBUX – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
WHISTLIN’ ARROW – Bumped at the start. Tightened for room near the 300m and had to be steadied when LEICA FIRECRACKER laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
ZARAFET – Lost the near fore plate during the running of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing some soreness to the near fore hoof which may have been the result of losing the plate.
 
ROCKSHORE – Began awkwardly.
 
RAKU’S SECRET – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from heels shortly after the start. Commenced to hang out from the 800m and as a result raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in in the home straight. Shifted in abruptly over the concluding stages.
 
BEGIN – Fractious prior to the start.
 
Race 5: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1900M
 
MONASHEE RIDGE – Fractious leaving the enclosure. Rider dislodged en route to the barriers, taking a seemingly harmless fall, remounted and fulfilled her engagement. Laid in approaching the 400m and then again in the home straight, and over the concluding stages bumped LEGS UNBARRED.
 
FORT MYER – Got its head up near the 1500m when being restrained. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.
 
MADAM MAHAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Got its head up when racing keenly in the early stages. Tightened for room near the 1300m and had to be steadied when LITTLE DRUMMER BOY was taken in slightly by BOMBAY BULLET. M. Hellyer, the rider of BOMBAY BULLET, was reminded of his responsibilities when shifting ground
 
MACMISSILE – Overraced and was unable to obtain a position with cover and raced three wide throughout. Crowded for room when weakening near the 600m.
 
CRAIGLEA SIMMO – Brushed the running rail near the 1600m. Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
 
BOMBAY BULLET – Bumped at the start. Forced wider near the 1400m. M. Hellyer was fined $300 for returning to scale more than half a kilogram over the horse’s allotted weight.
 
MAJOR LUCK – Improved on to heels and shifted out near the 1500m and from that point raced wide until finding a position with cover near the 900m.
 
Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 800M
 
EEYORE was a late scratching at 3:12 pm due to an abnormal heart rate. Connections were advised that prior to racing again the gelding will be required to undergo an ECG, the results of which are to be provided to stewards, and must trial satisfactorily.
 
 
EMBATTLED – Raced in restricted room and was bumped near the 300m. Hung out severely rounding the home turn. Trainer S. Kendrick’s stable representative was advised that the gelding would have to officially trial prior to racing again.
 
FREEFICA – Slow to begin.
 
CARTLAND – Taken wider rounding the home turn.
 
STAR PAINTER – Knuckled on jumping.
 
BLACK JAGUAR – Raced in restricted room near the 500m between EMBATTLED and CARTLAND, which shifted in. V. Venkaya, the rider of CARTLAND, was advised to exercise more care. Checked severely and lost ground rounding the home turn when EMBATTLED hung out.
 
Race 7: MAYOR GRAEME LEHMANN BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed when BEACH CLUB cast the near fore plate and had to be reshod. The horse was subsequently examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
 
GREY SKIES – Began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.
 
HARPAH’S JOY – Commenced to weaken leaving the 500m. On entering the home straight rider B. Appo stopped riding as he was of the opinion that the horse may have got its tongue over the bit and choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
RIVER OF LOVE – Tightened for room near the 1100m when GETS SMOKIN’ laid in.
 
BEACH CLUB – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
