Race 1: SEVEN MACKAY QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1050M
 
Due to a misunderstanding, trainer T. Simmons declared incorrect riders for her two runners in this race. Once Ms Simmons became aware of the error, she contacted stewards, who gave approval for C. McIver to ride JILTED GIRL and apprentice T. Doyle to ride NOBODY BETTER. This error was identified shortly after rider declaration time and corrected. Accordingly, correct jockeys were published in the race book and through media outlets.
 
CRAIGLEA HARVEY – Performed disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer’s representative Mr S. Johnston was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding being again permitted to start in a race.
 
BRASS BEAD – Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Raced greenly in the middle stages.
 
WOOHOO GIRL – Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Inconvenienced approaching the winning post by another runner which was racing greenly. A post-race swab sample was taken from the filly, which raced below market expectations.
 
JILTED GIRL – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages.
 
NOBODY BETTER – Raced greenly in the home straight when hampered by another runner.
 
VAMPARINA – Raced greenly for the majority of the event. Laid in down the running, hampering other runners and proving difficult to ride for apprentice A. Thompson. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that the filly would be required to trial satisfactorily before being permitted to again start in a race.
 
Race 2: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1560M
 
SHIRANDA – Buffeted between runners shortly after the start after beginning awkwardly.
 
Race 3: JOIN THE 100 CLUB MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
TALA RIKISA was incorrectly named in the official program under its former name which was QUARALIA. On-course patrons were notified of this error via public address.
 
COSMOLOGICAL – Inconvenienced soon after the start. Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room near the 850m.
 
CRISTOVAO – Crowded runners to its inside when being ridden forward near the 900m. Jockey J. Stanley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
EMBERSPEED – Inclined to lay in down the running, proving difficult for jockey R. McMahon to ride out. Jockey McMahon reported that in his opinion the gelding, which was having its first start after a lengthy spell, had tired over the concluding stages and would derive benefit from today’s race.
 
TRIX – After beginning awkwardly, shifted in inconveniencing runners to its inside. Inconvenienced near the 900m by another runner which was improving to its outside. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure near the 200m.
 
TWISTED SUCCESS – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 700m.
 
Race 4: SMARTSTATE VEHICLE RENTALS CLASS 6 PLATE – 1300M
 
ALASSAK – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
SIEGE OF ENNIS – Shifted wider on the track when overracing passing the 800m and raced wide from that point on. Jockey B. Thomson reported that the gelding was inclined to lay in under pressure down the running and on returning to the enclosure was found to have got its tongue over the bit.
 
NORTHERN SECRET – Shifted wider on the track at the 800m to improve and raced wide from that point on.
 
Race 5: TRIPLE M MACKAY QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
GOTEN – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Shifted in near the 700m, crowding another runner.
 
GRAN CHICO – Slowly away.
 
GREAT FOX – Slowly away.
 
OUTSPOKEN – Slowly away.
 
DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Fractious in the barriers. Slowly away. Examined by the veterinary surgeon following the race which revealed minor abrassions  
 
CRAIGLEA CELERIO – Hung out badly in the home straight, despite the efforts of apprentice A. Thompson, losing considerable ground. Trainer’s representative Mr S. Johnston was advised that the colt would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to again start in a race.
 
SERIOUS CRIME – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
TYCOON PLAYER – Had to be steadied near the 700m when crowded by another runner which shifted in. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
After passing the winning post DIAMOND ACCOUNT made the crossing awkwardly, blundered and fell, dislodging jockey N. Seymour. Jockey Seymour was subsequently examined by on-course paramedics and cleared of serious injury, however he was stood down from his remaining engagements. SERIOUS CRIME was unable to avoid the fallen DIAMOND ACCOUNT passing the crossing, becoming unbalanced and dislodging jockey B. Thomson. Jockey Thomson, who was also examined by paramedics and cleared of serious injury, declared herself fit to continue, however, after completing her engagement in Race 6, declared herself unable to fulfil her remaining engagement in Race 7. Both N. Seymour and B. Thomson were advised that they will require medical clearances prior to resuming race riding. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 6: HIT FM MACKAY BENCHMARK 60 H'CAP – 1100M
 
OAKFIELD COSTA – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
GINGERSNAP – Shifted in near the 200m, inconveniencing another runner. Apprentice M. Wishart was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
KALANGADOO CHROME – Slowly away. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr M. Attard advised it is now the intention to step the gelding up over distances longer than that of today’s race which he believes will prove more suitable. Nonetheless Mr Attard was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s competitiveness.
 
ESPRIT LIGHT – Restrained around the heels of another runner which shifted in near the 200m.
 
INSOLVENT – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1300M
 
STRONG WILL – Had to be restrained off heels for some distance in the middle stages.
 
ALL ABOUT MAGIC – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly, losing considerable ground. Trainer Ms J. Doolan was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
Stewards spoke with Starter Mr P. Conway in regard to the earmuffs being left on SHANNONBROOK MISS. Stewards reminded Mr Conway of the current protocol in relation to red earmuffs, which are to be removed at the barriers.
 
Race 8: MCDONALD MURPHY MACHINERY BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1300M
 
ALL ABOUT JULIA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MAEVE IN MANHATTAN – Slowly away. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Held up for clear running entering the home straight. Switched to the inside to obtain clear running near the 300m and was disappointed for a run by another runner which shifted out. Again disappointed approaching the winning post when attempting a marginal run.
 
AUSSIE TYCOON – Shifted out near the 300m, inconveniencing another runner. Apprentice H. English was admonished and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
KANUI – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
SARABAH – Raced wide in the early stages.
