Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for WARWICK AVENUE and CASTA arriving late on course at 3:00 pm, when they were required to be on course at 2:49 pm. Trainer Ms T. Bannon was unable to offer any tangible explanation other than that she was running late, which in these circumstances did not satisfy the stewards, when she lived in very close proximity to the track.

Ms Bannon pleaded guilty to a charge under LR30 in that she presented both those runners to the course contrary to the time they were required to be on course and was fined $200 on each breach. Ms Bannon was advised of her rights to an internal review.

In addition, pre-race and post-race samples were taken from WARWICK AVENUE and a post-race sample was taken from CASTA.

I CAN I WILL I AM – Slow to begin.

CASTA – Rider J. Stanley advised stewards prior to weighing out that he would be unable to make the allotted weight of 54kg. As no other suitable rider was available who could ride at that weight, stewards allowed jockey Stanley to ride the horse 1kg over its allotted weight. This was broadcast via public announcement. J. Stanley was fined the sum of $200.
