Race 1: REGIONAL INSURANCE BROKERS Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
SABOR – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RIGHT BOWER – Approaching the 700m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of MILITARY FORCE.
MAX'N'MAT – Slow to begin.
Race 2: BP SOUTH ROCKHAMPTON Class 6 Plate 1300 metres
MISTA BUSY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DISCO MO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SAY I CEE YOU – Slow to begin. On entering the home straight became awkwardly placed on the heels of KINGS COUNTY when attempting to shift out into clear running. Hung in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride out. Co-Trainer T. Edmonds was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding.
Race 3: SMR LAWYERS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600 metres
CZECHOSLOVAKIA (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
NORAH – Approaching the 500m was disappointed for a run between ATYAAF and ANGOLA MISS and had to shift in to attempt to improve. Held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 500m to the 100m and again was disappointed for a run between CZECHOSLOVAKIA (NZ) and RUFFIN’ IT and as a consequence was unable to be fully tested to the line.
Following the running of this race Jockey M McGillivray was examined by the Queensland Ambulance Officers and was passed fit to fulfil his engagements.
Race 4: PUT ROCKY ON YOUR RADAR 2021 MAYOR'S CUP OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
ONLY WANNA SING – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey A Butler stated that in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
LAST CHANCE – Laid out in the early stages of the home straight and laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
CASINO THOUGHTS – Jumped away awkwardly.
THE BAKER – On entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between SWORD OF JUSTICE and REGAL REECE and had to shift in to improve into clear running.
Race 5: ULTON 2021 CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE CLASSIC QTIS
2YO PLATE 1200 metres
KAMARCHER – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
CODY ALTEM – Approaching the 700m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SHESAYSTHANKS, which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
SHESAYSTHANKS – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 700m became awkward in its stride and shifted in abruptly and when being corrected shifted out hampering CODY ALTEM.
MONTANA NIGHT – Jumped away awkwardly.
AGUSTAWYND – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the mounting enclosure fence and was passed fit to start. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
TAHLIA GOLD – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
Race 6: SCOTPAC CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE CHAMPIONSHIP QTIS 3&4YO Handicap 1300 metres
Correct weight was delayed to allow Trainer T Button and Jockey N Thomas, Jockey and trainer of Miss Lot Won, who was placed 4th by the judge to view the photo finish. After hearing submissions from both Jockey and trainer, stewards were not satisfied on the available evidence that the Judge had made a mistake in the determination of the finishing order of a race and as such declared correct weight.
HEZHOME – Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer C Smith advised he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the subsequent days.
MISS LOT WON - Slow to begin.
BATTLE THROUGH - Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
THE SILVER LADY – Stewards intend to inquire into Jockey B. El’Issa’s whip use in the home straight.
DARCHINIAN - Jumped away awkwardly.
CHARLIE SPHENE -Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
SILVER LUCY - Raced wide throughout the event.
