General - From SCTC 29th November. Race 6 – PLATINUM EUROS.

Stewards today, after a review of betting transactions into this event, concluded their inquiry in relation to Rider T Brookers riding of the gelding between the 400 metres and the 200 metres.  On review there were no concerning betting transactions identified on this event.

After considering the explanation tendered by Ms Brooker, Stewards found in their opinion she had erred in failing to place sufficient pressure on PLATINUM EUROS in the early stages of the home straight, however this error of judgement was not so unreasonable to find her culpable under the rules when considering PLATINUM EUROS was returning from a lengthy spell and also as evidenced by trainer N McCall that the horse had undergone corrective knee surgery subsequent to its last start. Stewards also took into account rider T Brooker had only recently returned to riding after a lengthy period of disqualification.

Trainer N McCall pleaded guilty to a charge under AR105 and was fined $400 for failing to report a condition that may affect a horse’s performance in that PLATINUM EUROS had undergone corrective knee surgery subsequent to its most recent start.
