FALVELINO – After being crossed by runner in the early stages the gelding resented the kick back and lost ground. Trainer C. Smith advised that the gelding acted in a similar manner at its last start at Birdsville and in future would attempt to restrict the horse’s races away from dirt surfaces.

RACE 2: ANIPRO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP - 1000M

BIG BRITCHES – As J. Rudd had not completed his after injury concussion test he was not permitted to ride at the meeting and as such was replaced by R. Williams.

In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of apprentice Barlow’s inexperience, forthright conduct and proactively bringing the matter to the attention of the stewards.

BURNING MOUNTAIN – Hung out throughout.

I DO CARE – Disappointed for a run near the 100m and lost ground.

CRAWFISH – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Eased from heels near the 900m.

MOHAKA RIVER – Stewards questioned stable representative Mr J. Baker in relation to the improved performance from its most recent start at Surat. Mr Baker advised that the gelding began awkwardly at the start, lost ground and as a result settled in a reward position. He added that the gelding also had a tendency to hang in throughout the race and when making ground in the home straight was interfered with by another runner. He added that based on the horses work following the event the stable had expected a forward showing for today’s event.
