Apprentice Amanda Thomson who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to illness was advised that  a medical clearance would be required prior to her next race ride. Riding change was made as per  the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
Race 1: Townsville Industrial Painting & Coating Ratings Band 0-60 H’cap – 1609m
 
BUSTER BLOCK – Trainer P. Cullen informed Stewards the horse had been gelded prior to its previous start however was shown in the race book and official program as an entire. Trainer P. Cullen was directed by Stewards to amend the  stable return to reflect this change.  Slowly away.
 
WHILE WE CAN – Slowly away.
 
ZERO SECRETS – Inclined to over-race in the middle stages.
 
ARNO BAY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted around heels on straightening to obtain clear running.
 
NAUGHTY CORNER - Raced wide from the 1000m.
 
BENTO – Raced wide from the 800m.
 
Race 2: Global Welding Supplies Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
CRISTOVAO – Trainer T. Bannon advised Stewards the horse had been gelded prior to its previous start however was shown  in the race book and official program as an entire. Trainer T. Bannon, who was absent from today’s meeting, will be contacted in relation to this matter.  After racing prominently failed to respond to the efforts of Jockey J. Stanley from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination  revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken.
 
TRIGGER – Slowly away.
 
BUCK STOPS HERE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
D’MAIN TRAIN – Slowly away after jumping awkwardly.
 
AGILITY – When questioned in relation to the performance, Jockey B. Pengelly stated that after being slowly away the gelding failed to respond to his riding from the 800m and was disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 3: NPS Corporate QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
CHAMPAGNE TILLY – Slowly away.
 
OUTLAW JACK – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and was slowly away as a result. Trainer G. Hickmott was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
JARS – Slowly away.
 
PLATONICA – Shifted out abruptly on jumping.
 
SHE GOES BOOM – Shifted in on jumping.
 
DIAMOZU – Was taken in by another runner on jumping away.
 
WHAT’S ROCKIN’ – Slowly away after being tightened between runners on jumping.
 
PRIVATE CLIENT – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: Urban Miss Makeup Open H’cap – 1400m
 
SCHEDULE - Fractious in the barrier.
 
HOT SAGA – Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly.
 
BOLD AVENUE – Jumped outwards at the start.
 
ISLAND BAR – Slowly away.
 
CRIMSON HALO – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Shifted in under riding passing the 200m, hampering a tiring runner. Apprentice A. Thompson was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) (careless riding).  Apprentice Thompson was also fined $200 under AR132(7)(ii) for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post race swab sample was taken.
 
FASTCAR – Was hampered near the 200m by another runner which shifted in under riding.
 
Race 5: Norquip Hire Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1000m
 
ROCKSPUR – Slowly away.
 
OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Slowly away.
 
INVISIBLE GIRL – Near the 100m shifted out abruptly after improving onto the heels of another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MORE THAN A SONG – Apprentice A. Thompson was fined $200 under AR132(7)(ii) for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.  
 
Race 6: Byrnes Holdings Class 3 Plate – 1400m
 
LOVE ME RUBY – Slowly away. Shifted in marginally near the 100m crowding another runner.
 
FERINGO – Slowly away. When questioned, Jockey C. Whitely advised, in his opinion, the gelding had not been comfortable on today’s soft surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken.
 
ACADEMY HILL – Slowly into stride.
 
MOLONGLE DREAM – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
OMINECA – Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running, placing Jockey R. Wiggins at a disadvantage.
 
LORD ARCHER- Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Was inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in marginally near the 100m.
 
Race 7: Gracies Signs Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
 
BAUHINIA STORM – Which was advertised as racing in blinkers in the official race program, raced without blinkers. This was not a gear change. On course announcements to this effect were made by public address.
 
PROFOUND CHICE – Slowly away.
 
MUSIC – Slowly away.
 
CINNABARBOW – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with another runner.
 
INTENSE FOCUS – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CEEBIZ KIT- Shifted in and away from another runner near the 1100m, placing a further runner to its inside on heels.
 
CROCODILE SHOES – Had to be restrained off heels near the 1100m after being taken in by another runner, which shifted in.
 
CANDY GIRL – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ZOOBA MAN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to the off hind coronet in running.
