A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Trainer J Campeao confirmed the instructions adding that despite the gelding settling in a rearward position in its most recent starts his instructions on those occasions had been to try and be positive. Mr Campeao advised further that connections would now look to retire the gelding. Nonetheless, Mr Campeao was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR100 and advised to inform Stewards of tactical changes in the future.

Stewards inquired into the reasons WOTSIZNAME was checked passing the 250m. After taking evidence from the riders involved and viewing the patrol footage it was ascertained that approaching that point in the race DOUBLE MAJOR (A Sewell) had commenced to shift in marginally, causing BORELLA (S Wilson), which was racing tight to the inside of that runners heels, to shift in. Simultaneously, FINAL WARNING (App. E Cass) commenced to shift out under pressure. WOTSIZNAME (D Smith) which was racing between FINAL WARNING and BORELLA consequently was obliged to check. BORELLA was then buffeted between DOUBLE MAJOR and FINAL WARNING, which became unbalanced as a result.
