GENERAL

Due to delays impacting riders caused by a traffic accident the start time for Race 1 was amended to 12:22pm. Runners in later races were also impacted with the action taken in those instances as listed below.

As Apprentice A Patis was not attending todays meeting rider changes were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: GET MARRIED @ CLUDEN PARK QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

CRAIGLEA ICON- As App. E Cass was delayed due to a traffic incident Stewards permitted Jockey J Felix to be substituted as the rider of the filly when no other Apprentice rider was available. Bumped with another runner on jumping and was slow into stride. Momentarily steadied after improving onto the heels of another runner which was racing in restricted room leaving the 1000m.

GETITON- Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1000m. Disappointed for clear running multiple times in the home straight. Momentarily hampered soon after the winning post by another runner which shifted in.

WICKED DRAGON- Began awkwardly.

GOLDEN GROOVE- Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with another runner.

IN HIS TIME- Bumped with another runner on jumping.

WELL CHARRED- Inconvenienced by another runner and was obliged to restrain and shift out approaching the 1000m. Inclined to race ungenerously from that point.

CRAIGLEA BANDIT- Took the 1000m turn awkwardly and shifted in. Inclined to over-race from that point until passing the 800m.

AVOIDING HER- Brushed the inside running rail passing the 1000m becoming unbalanced and racing awkwardly for a short distance after.

JASMINE’S PRIDE- Shifted in soon after the winning post momentarily hampering another runner. Jockey G Kliese was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Race 2: BROWN BROTHERS CELLAR DOOR 26 & 27 JUNE OPEN HANDICAP 1200m

BOYER- Commenced to race ungenerously soon after jumping. Trainer B Williams was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners. Improved onto heels passing the 1000m when the pace slackened and continued to over-race until a point near the 700m.

Stewards inquired into a protracted incident which took place in the early and middle stages of the event. After viewing the official patrol footage and taking evidence from the riders involved Stewards were of the opinion that when LOVE IS BLIND (S Wilson) crossed BOYER (App M Potgieter) whilst not fully clear had that runner continued at a genuine pace the interference would have been negligible however, having commenced to ease soon after crossing to the inside running rail Jockey Wilson had slowed the pace to an extent where App Potgieter was obliged to restrain his mount to avoid heels. Jockey Wilson was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(d). In determining penalty Stewards considered the racing manners of BOYER leading up to the incident to be a mitigating factor.

Race 3: TRIVIA NIGHT FRIDAY 23 APRIL CLASS 6 PLATE 1400m

CINNAMON MISSILE- Bumped with another runner soon after the start.

MISHANI COURAGE- Having raced on the 10/04/2021 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Shifted in and away from another runner soon after jumping.

SILENT EXPLORER- Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Hung out for the duration of the home straight proving extremely difficult for Jockey C Whiteley to ride out. Jockey Whiteley advised that, in his opinion, the addition of blinkers for todays event may have been to the gelding’s detriment. Trainer S Massingham concurred and advised he would experiment with a gear change prior to the gelding next racing. Nonetheless Mr Massingham was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners.
