Race 1: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1850M

THE MINIVAN – Held up for clear running when placed at the heels of tiring runners for some distance passing the 500m.

OCTAVIAN – After improving onto heels whilst racing keenly passing the 1100m, shifted to a 3 wide position and, as a result of OPEN ROAD improving to its inside, was forced to race 3 wide without cover for the remainder.

OPEN ROAD – Slow to begin.

Race 2: BLACK & WHITE CABS BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1200M

BRYAN – Steadied to avoid the heels of MADDIARA which shifted out when not completely clear near the 1100m. Apprentice W. Peel, the rider of MADDIARA, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

MOSCINI – Disappointed for clear running near the 250m before shifting to the inside to secure clear running. When questioned by Stewards in relation to the tactics adopted, jockey L. Tilley advised that his instructions were to come out neutral on the gelding in an endeavour to find a position with cover. He advised that in the early stages he formed the view that runners to his inside were being ridden aggressively, and therefore from the wide barrier if he was to push forward it may have resulted in his mount racing wide without cover. He went on to say that for this reason he elected to restrain the gelding to a rearward position with cover during the early stages. Stewards noted the explanation.

MY BELLY BUTTON – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn before shifting to the inside to secure clear running.

SUPREME HARMONY – Slow to begin, and then further hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start.
