Obliged to steady from heels near the 150m. Raced wide without cover. When asked to explain the performance, jockey R. Fradd stated that the gelding may not have appreciated today’s firm track conditions and being first up for some time. He was of the opinion the PERFECT DARE would take a fitness benefit from today’s race. A post race veterinary examination following its disappointing performance failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
