Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1100m. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which weakened badly in the straight, revealed no abnormalities. Jockey M. Cahill indicated he could not explain the performance, which he considered disappointing. He felt the horse had travelled well until after being placed under pressure and then weakened badly in the final 400m. Stewards advised connections that the horse would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to starting again.
