THE QUEENSLAND RACING CARNIVAL IS WHERE CHAMPIONS EMERGE.
Last year, it was Apache Chase and Alligator Blood that shone brightest, and this year the tradition continues.
The Winter Carnival kicks off with two bumper Group 2 races – the Queensland Guineas and the Victory Stakes – which will set the scene for an epic 10 weeks of racing, with more than $25 million in prize money up for grabs.
The Guineas has proven a great form race, with an honour roll including Private Eye (Epsom Handicap, runner-up The Everest) and Kolding (Epsom Handicap, Golden Eagle).
The Victory marks the start of the BRC’s famous sprint series and has an equally impressive list of winners, headed in modern times by the dual-winning local hero Buffering.
