An enquiry was held into an incident at about the 800 metres in which EXPLODER (O Galea) eased and lost ground. Stewards found that DINKA (S Oates) had moved in slightly causing GRECIAN STAR (A Tighe) to shift in onto EXPLODER. S Oates was reprimanded.

Race 4 Open Handicap – 1200 Metres- 8 Starters
ROYAL RHYME struck its head in the float suffering minor lacerations to the off nose. That horse was examined by the veterinarian and cleared to start. SPECIAL KARIOI (R Hammond) lugged out on the home turn. An enquiry was held into an incident at about the 600m in which RAJARSI (NZ) eased and lost ground. O Galea (JAME’S LEGACY) stated that his mount had blundered at that point shifted in slighly and bumped RAJARSI (NZ) (P Allen). No action was taken.

Race 5 Class 3 Handicap – 800 Metres - 7 Starters
HOT TO HANDLE dipped badly at the start almost unseating T Austin. The gates on barrier 7 failed to open with the rest of the field causing SAHARA SCARLET (S Oates) to be denied a fair start. Stewards declared SAHARA SCARLET a non-runner and ordered all bets on that horse to be refunded. A deduction of 48c win and 25c place was declared on that horse in accordance with the provisions of the Racing & Betting Act.

Routine swab samples taken from 4 winners and 1 placed horse.
