Shortly after the start, FIBS ON FIRE (M. Atkinson) and JEWELS ‘N’ SHOES (J. Felix) came together and bumped.

Race 4: MALANDA C GRADE SENIOR RUGBY LEAGUE TEAM CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1000M
1st – NINETY DEGREES 2nd – AMAZING LOVER 3rd – GENERAL VANDAL 4TH – ON THE ROSTER
Stewards gave consideration to a protest lodged by K. Rockett the rider of LAKEFUL which was placed 5th by the judge against AMAZING LOVER (F. Edwards) which was placed 2nd for alleged interference over the final 50m. After hearing all submissions and viewing the official patrol film, Stewards were of the opinion that at a point near the 100m GENERAL VANDAL (S. Morris) commenced to shift out and near the 50m made heavy contact with LAKEFUL which forced that horse out onto the hindquarters of AMAZING LOVER resulting in AMAZING LOVER being forced in. As Stewards were of the belief that GENERAL VANDAL had a bearing in the incident, Stewards dismissed the objection and correct weight given on the judges numbers. At a subsequent inquiry S. Morris the rider of GENERAL VANDAL was severely reprimanded for careless riding.
Near the 800m, AMAZING LOVER (F. Edwards) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by GENRAL VANDAL (S. Morris) which shifted in.
Following the running of this race, Stewards abandon Race 5 at 3.20pm due to heavy rain which had fallen during the running of Race 4 and prior to the start of Race 5.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
