DANCE DUCEY DANCE (J. Murphy) hung out rounding the 800m turn.

REPEATEDLY (D. Crossland) raced wide throughout the event and rounding the 800m turn commenced to hang out and continued to do so until near the 400m, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

CRAFTY TRICK (F. Edwards) hung out rounding the home turn.

After passing the winning post, MEGAROYALE (G. Cullen) was steadied when tightened for room by HAYDEE (K. Rockett) which shifted in. K. Rockett was advised to exercise more care.

Near the 900m, GEMINI GEORGE (J. Murphy) was placed in restricted racing room between TIBOOBURRA EMMA (A. Cox) and TAUNUS (F. Edwards), which raced up onto the heels of MARLI’S MATE (D. Crossland) and shifted out slightly. F. Edwards was advised to exercise more care.

Passing the 800m, TAUNUS (F. Edwards) improved up onto the heels of MARLI’S MATE (D. Crossland) and was steadied and for a short distance later continued to over race.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MARLI’S MATE, rider D. Crossland stated that he had to use the gelding up during the early stages to obtain a forward position as per the horse’s usual racing pattern. D. Crossland further added that when he placed the gelding under pressure from near the 450m MARLI’S MATE failed to respond to his urgings and in his opinion proved most disappointing. Trainer Mrs T.
