Near the 700m COSANNCO (J. Stopps) improved onto the heels of DIAMOND SEEKER (G. Kliese) and had to be eased. Jockey Kliese reported that DIAMOND SEEKER over reacted when he elected to ease the horse at this point of the race due to the fast tempo that was being set.

MEEZAAH (K. Rockett) was momentarily held up for clear running near the 300m and again near the 200m.

Race 3: TABLELAND VETERINARY SERVICE CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1200M

When questioned as to the disappointing performance of MICHELET, Jockey Atkinson stated that he was able to obtain the lead in the early stages of the event however, when he was able to push forward of the runner to his outside MICHELET dropped the bit. As a consequence MCHELET compounded from a point leaving the 400m and finished the event tailed off. Jockey Atkinson was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance. Trainer T. Rowe will be interviewed.

THE HAWKER (W. D’Avila) was fractious in the barrier prior to the start being affected.

The announcement of CORRECT WEIGHT was delayed to enable Jockey Kliese, the rider of 3rd placed APACHE MAGIC, to view the official photo finish. After viewing the photo Jockey Kliese was satisfied with the placings semaphored by the Judge and correct weight was declared.

Race 5: ATHERTON HALLORAN’S LEISURE PARK OPEN HANDICAP – 1000M

Edwards). At a subsequent inquiry Jockey Edwards was reprimanded and advised to alleviate pressure to runners to his inside where possible.

A post race veterinary examination found LA SALLE (R. Ryan) to have suffered a bleeding attack. As this was the second bleeding attack suffered by LA SALLE, trainer J. Ryan was advised that the horse would now incur a lifetime ban from racing under the provisions of AR 53A(5).
