Race1: First Steps Early Learning Maiden Plate 1100m

At the start CITING [M Atkinson] was tightened for room when MAJESTIC TIME [I Toward] shifted in and TWO STEP TANGO [A Merritt], which jumped out.

PREACHER [B Swaffer] knuckled upon jumping.

At the start FALMOUTH [M Elliott] and DAWNY [K Rockett] bumped.

LET’S SEE ACTION [W D’Avila] and MAJESTIC TIME [I Toward] raced wide throughout.

TWO STEP TANGO [A Merritt] raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

Near the 100m, CITING [M Atkinson] had to eased when PREACHER [B Swaffer] shifted out under pressure.

Race 2: Gary Robinson – Concrete Contractor Class B Handicap 1200m
1st - Claude 2nd – So Dotti 3rd – Young Gunz 4th – Six Bob

SEGONTIUM [W D’Avila] was slow to begin.

OLIVE OYL [K Stone] lost ground at the start when bumped by WEELEE FLYER [M Elliott].

SO DOTTI [K Rockett] and JEWELS ‘N’ SHOES [S Kaya] raced wide throughout.

An inquiry was opened into the reasons for SEGONTIUM [W D’Avila] falling near 700m mark. Evidence was taken from the riders of CLAUDE [I Toward], EXCITING ERA [F Edwards] and SEGONTIUM [W D’Avila]. After considering the evidence put forward by all parties, it was established that approaching the 800m mark, SEGONTIUM [W D’Avila] began to over-race and continued to do so for some distance despite the efforts of its rider Jockey D’Avila. As a consequence of the racing manners of SEGONTIUAM, the mare near the 700m improved onto the heels of CLAUDE, clipped the heels of CLAUDE causing SEGONTIUM to fall. As the incident was directly attributable to the racing manners of SEGONTIUM and not the actions of any, one rider, no further action was taken. A veterinary examination of SEGONTIUM following the incident revealed the mare to have fractured it’s off side fore leg and as such the mare was euthanased on humane grounds.

As a result of SEGONTIUM [W D’Avila] falling near the 700m mark, WEELEE FLYER [M Elliott] which was following had to be severely checked and lost a considerable amount of ground.

Race 3: Combined Local Bookmakers Class 2 Handicap 1000m

Race 4: Tolga Lions Club Class 3 Plate 1400m

Prior to fulfilling his engagement in Race 4, jockey Wanderson D’Avila, who suffered a fall in Race 2, was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his engagement.

CHRONIC [W D’Avila] threw its head up upon jumping and then over-raced for the majority of the event. CHRONIC also raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Sydney H Turner Open Handicap 1100m
1st – Ponbar Avenue 2nd – Fred The Legion 3rd – Surpasser 4th – Sun Yatsen

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of SUN YATSEN [R Ryan] to view the official photo for third. After viewing the photo, connections were happy with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.

At the start SUN YATSEN [R Ryan] was tightened for room between SEQUABOOMWA [I Toward] which shifted out and PONBAR AVENUE [K Rockett] which shifted in.

SEQUABOOMWA [I Toward] raced wide for the entire event.
