KANDEE QUEEN [S Kaya] jumped in and tightened the running of ELECTRIC BLUE [K Rockett].

DEB’S HOPE [G Kliese] and LET’S SEE ACTION [W D’Avila] were both slow to begin.

Jockey G Kliese reported that after DEB’S HOPE was slow to begin, he immediately asked DEB’S HOPE to improve forward to obtain a more favourable position and the gelding commenced to overrace from the 700m to the 400m and had to be restrained off heels for most of the back straight.

Race 3: Remote Building Solutions Class 2 Handicap 1400m
1st: Bear In There 2nd: Mayweather 3rd: Gumly’s Blu Boy 4th: No Wonder

Stewards questioned trainer J Rowan and jockey J Dickinson rider of GUMLY’S BLU BOY regarding the tactics employed on the gelding. Jockey J Dickinson stated after initially occupying a position one wide that at the 1200m BEAR IN THERE [F Edwards] shifted off the fence, forcing GUMLY’S BLU BOY [J Dickinson] to race wider. Jockey J Dickinson further explained that he attempted to obtain cover behind VILLAGE COMMAND [I Toward] in the back straight, however was unable to do so due to LAWCOURT [B Swaffer] obtaining that position. As a consequence GUMLY’S BLU BOY was forced to race three wide in the small field for the majority of the event. Trainer J Rowan advised that GUMLY’S BLU BOY was also ridden midfield at its previous start when a winner at Cairns and that he had issued similar instructions in today’s event. He also advised that GUMLY’S BLU BOY was also having its first start at the Atherton track.
The explanation of both jockey J Dickinson and trainer J Rowan was noted.
